Dylan M. TaylorandClaude Opus 5.5 b12ee928f3 Security: document model generation budgets for live art, clipping runs, placed documents, graph masks, path reading and native entries
CodeRabbit findings #58, #75, #82, #113, #159, #175, #187:

- Live evaluation (expansion, envelope mapping and everything inside) makes at most 4M
objects (`MAX_GENERATED`); deep expansion counts what each live object makes, and envelope
image pieces count before they are cut.
- Clipping runs copy at most 8M clip path elements together; past it runs are plain groups.
- Exports read at most 256 placed documents; the rest show their previews.
- Graph design and marker budgets count opacity-mask art (`Node::count_with_masks`).
- Native files read at most 32M anchors (4M on wasm) of paths; the web build allows 1 GiB of
  entries after the JSON.

Dylan M. Taylor f4a30c1a94 Audit: geometry length measurement refuses coordinates the integrator cannot handle 2026-10-24 04:13:36 +07:00
bflatastic 4f526b4e3f Reshape: the lengths along the path are measured once per drag, and the default reach stays the path's size (#2900)
anchor_arc_distance measured every segment again for each anchor, so a reshape cost the square of the anchor count; path.reshape now measures the positions once, and the two helpers only it used are gone. The default radius stays half the subpath's bounding-box diagonal, now measured along the path: half its length reached the far corners of a square, moving art the grab is nowhere near (reshape_moves_the_grabbed_point_and_its_neighbourhood).

dotCooCoo 138e9ca466 Paths: a curve with a handle near f64::MAX is measured by its control points
PathData::bounds measured each segment by its start, end and extrema,
as kurbo's bounding_box does. For a curve with a handle at about 1e308
in size, or an infinite one, kurbo's extrema computation overflows and
drops the extreme. The box then held only the anchors. The canvas check
after an edit reads that box for the selected objects, so path.create
kept a curve with handles at 1e308.

The new segment_bounds measures a segment by its control points when
one of them has an x or y that is infinite or larger in size than
f64::MAX / 16, and by its extrema otherwise, bit for bit as before.
curve_bounds joins those boxes as kurbo does, and PathData::bounds uses
it, so such a curve's box holds the whole curve and the canvas check
refuses an edit that leaves one selected.

dotCooCoo f3072fc748 Paths: Shift keeps a reshaped segment's handles perpendicular and equal in length
Shift pressed while dragging a segment had no effect on the curve:
Direct Selection's curved-segment and spine-segment drags, the Anchor
Point tool and the Pen with Alt sent the pointer offset alone, and the
segment bent freely. The reference app keeps the handles in the
perpendicular direction and of equal length while Shift is held.

path.reshapeSegment and object.blend.spine.reshapeSegment take
perpendicular (default false, which keeps today's behavior). With it,
both of the segment's handles stand at right angles to the line between
its anchors, on the same side and at the same length, and the point at
t lies as far from that line as the moved point does. A smooth anchor
at either end stays smooth, as it does in a drag without perpendicular,
and a segment whose anchors coincide bends as it does without
perpendicular. With Direct Selection, Shift pressed once a curved
segment's drag has started sends perpendicular; Shift held at the press
still toggles the path's selection, as before. Direct Selection's
spine-segment drag and the Anchor Point tool's segment drag send Shift
as perpendicular too, so the Pen with Alt does as well. A straight
segment dragged with Direct Selection already moves at 45° steps with
Shift.

bflatasticandClaude Opus 5.5 d3c997329d #1111: a blend's spine bends into a curve
The Anchor Point tool drags any segment of a selected blend's spine into
a curve, straight ones too, and Direct Selection reshapes a curved spine
segment as it does a path's (a straight one it leaves, as on paths). Both
run the new `object.blend.spine.reshapeSegment`, which bends the segment
with the same math as `path.reshapeSegment`, now shared as
`SubPath::bend_segment`.

bflatasticandClaude Opus 5.5 253249717b Pen and anchors: Alt edits one handle, cut and convert selected anchors from the Control bar
Discord feedback: Alt with the Pen didn't move a direction handle on its own, and there was no
way to break a path at an anchor and pull the ends apart.

- Pen: Alt held over a handle end or an anchor of a selected path (the one being drawn too) hands
the gesture to the Anchor Point tool, with the convert cursor: dragging a handle moves it alone,
clicking a smooth anchor makes it a corner, dragging an anchor pulls out symmetric handles.
Drawing goes on afterwards. Handles hidden by a partial anchor selection aren't grabbed.
- path.cutAtAnchors cuts at the direct-selected anchors in one undo step: a closed path opens
there, an open one becomes one path per piece, and one anchor of each cut stays selected so a
drag pulls the path apart. It answers {ids} and refuses (no undo step) when only open ends are
selected. path.convertAnchors checks `to`, skips stale anchor refs instead of indexing past
them, and keeps a smooth anchor's handles when converting to smooth.
- SubPath::cut_at and SubPath::smooth_anchor (geom) now back path.split, path.cutAtAnchors,
path.convertAnchor and path.convertAnchors, replacing three copies of that logic.
- Control bar and Properties panel: "Convert:" corner/smooth and "Anchors:" remove, connect
(Join), cut buttons when anchors are selected; Cut Path on the task bar and the context menu.
New original icon dc-anchor-smooth.svg (ASSETS.md row).
- ja, zh-hans, zh-hant and es strings (cs for the context menu item), es @msg rows; docs/mcp.md
  section; ROADMAP.

bflatasticandClaude Opus 5.5 3d35b8518f M8.19: blend spine and keys editable on the canvas
A selected blend shows its spine. Direct Selection drags spine points
and handles, the Pen tool adds and deletes points on a selected
blend's spine (object.blend.spine.moveAnchor/addAnchor/removeAnchor).
The straight spine becomes a path on the first edit, its points pinned
to the key objects (append-only BlendSpec.key_anchors): moving a key
moves its end of the spine and the other way round; spines from older
files and Replace Spine still spread the keys evenly. Direct and Group
Selection pick blend keys on the canvas, edits redraw the blend live,
and Release leaves the spine as a path.

Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 3e323bfa2a Robustness: VectorCraft never crashes — no panics in shipped code
Shipped code no longer unwraps, expects or panics: every one of the 124
unwrap()/expect()/panic!/unreachable! sites outside tests now handles the
failure (Result/Option, ?, let-else, defaults) and reports errors to the user.

- Lints: workspace clippy denies unwrap_used, expect_used, panic, todo,
unimplemented and unreachable; clippy.toml allows them in tests, and
integration tests, examples and testkit opt out explicitly.
- Safety net (vectorcraft_engine::guard): a panic in a top-level command rolls
the document back and returns EngineError::Internal; a panicking tool is
reset; the MCP server answers with an internal error and keeps serving; the
UI frame and each control request are guarded.
- APIs that hid failures now return them: Rendered::to_png/to_jpeg/to_webp
return Result (JPEG/WebP errors used to write empty files),
FontDb::face returns Option, Region::top returns Option.
- Fuzzing: engine/tests/import_fuzz.rs feeds garbage, hostile and mutated SVG
and PDF through import → render → export (30k cases locally, no panics).
- Docs: AGENTS.md/CLAUDE.md rule, docs/development.md "Robustness" section,
README pointer and a PR template checklist.

bflatasticandClaude Opus 5.5 4591c85845 M3.76: Attributes panel with overprint, centre point, path direction, fill rule, image map, URL and note
Window > Attributes (Cmd+F11) shows Overprint Fill/Stroke, Show/Don't Show
Center, Reverse Path Direction Off/On, the non-zero / even-odd fill rule,
Image Map, a URL field with recent URLs and a Browser button, and a note.
New commands attributes.set and path.setFillRule; path.reverse takes ids and
reversed; attributes.info reports every value. Objects keep the attributes in
Node.attrs. SVG export wraps linked objects in <a>, and import reads links
back. The canvas draws the centre point of selected objects that show it.
