Adds a Finnish (Suomi, `fi`) catalog with 4,770 entries, written in
sentence case from the English labels with ordinary Finnish
vector-illustration vocabulary. It covers menus, `tl!` literals and the
668 `@msg` status and error messages: `fi` is in KEEPS_MENU_NAMES and
COMPLETE_MESSAGES. Like the other complete catalogs, it leaves the
product, workspace and perspective preset names in English.
Plurals are one/other with the partitive singular after any number but
1 (1 taso, 2 tasoa). Any fi-* locale selects Finnish; sv-FI does not.
Tests: `cargo test -p vectorcraft-ui-egui --lib i18n` passes (47),
including the new finnish_reads_as_finnish and the bundled-font glyph
check.
Clean-room, AI-assisted (Claude Code) translation; a native speaker
checked it in the running app, but it has not been proofread line by
line.

#1290 (from #1275) declared the glibc floor as `libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.35)(64bit)`. That doesn't stop
RHEL 9: its current glibc, `2.34-283.el9_8`, provides `libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.35)` through backports. On
Rocky Linux 9, dnf upgrades glibc to that build, installs VectorCraft 0.10.0, and `vectorcraft-cli`
then fails with ``/lib64/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.35' not found``. The binaries' only GLIBC_2.35
symbols are `hypot` and `hypotf`, from libm, and RHEL 9 doesn't provide `libm.so.6(GLIBC_2.35)`.

Make and Edit choose the Intertwine tool: hovering highlights the overlap
area under the pointer, a click swaps which object is on top there, and a
path drawn around overlaps (Shift: a rectangle) arranges every overlap
inside it; Esc or Enter goes back to the tool chosen before. The overlap
faces move to vectorcraft-tools, shared by the tool and the command.
Clicks inside a raised area pick the member drawn on top there, the
Object menu gets the Intertwine submenu, and the new labels and the
predicate message are translated in the complete catalogs. docs/gaps.md
records what landed under G13.
A step whose id is draw_path or draw_shape runs that tool with its params,
checked as tools/call checks arguments; its result is the tool's, so later
steps can use "$N.id". The reply lists the ids the drawing steps made
under created. The unknown-argument check is shared with tools/call.
The drawing tools style the object they draw in the same call: dash, cap
and join go to the stroke.set that strokeWidth already sends, opacity and
name to object.setProps, and effects are applied in order as apply_effect
does. The options are checked (effect ids against effect.list) before
anything is drawn, so a bad one leaves no half-styled object behind.
A gradient given to several objects fits each one's own bounds. With
span: "selection", a linear or radial gradient without its own vector is
placed once on the union of the targets' bounds, at its angle and aspect,
and every target gets that vector in document coordinates, so the ramp
runs on across them. A solid colour, a swatch, a freeform gradient or an
explicit start/end with it is refused before anything changes; the next
object drawn still fits the gradient to itself.
The nine OFL faces in `assets/fonts` are compiled into every build of
vectorcraft-text: 3.4 MB of the binary, about 1.6 MB of a gzipped wasm.
An embedder that loads every font at run time with `FontDb::add_font`
(a web app serving its own font catalogue, say) ships them twice and
can't turn them off.
- vectorcraft-text: `bundled-fonts`, a default feature, holds the
`include_bytes!` list. Off, a database starts without them (craft-fonts
and system fonts are unaffected) and text has no glyphs until a font
is added, as when the bundled fonts fail to parse.
- vectorcraft-engine: a `bundled-fonts` default feature forwards to it,
so the apps and any embedder using the engine keep the fonts unless
they build it with `default-features = false`.
- The workspace declares vectorcraft-text without default features, so
no library crate turns the fonts back on. The tests of cad, metafile
and tools, which lay type out, ask for the feature in their
dev-dependencies; the other crates' tests get it through testkit.
`cargo test --workspace` builds with the fonts, as before. A new
integration test, `without_bundled_fonts`, covers the configuration
without them (`cargo test -p vectorcraft-text --no-default-features
--test without_bundled_fonts`): the database starts without them, text
in no font lays out with no glyphs, and a font added later is used and
is the fallback for families the database lacks.

The Curvature tool built its curve as a uniform Catmull-Rom: both handles of a
smooth point a sixth of the chord between its neighbours, the ends of an open
path without handles. Uneven spacing overshot or looped, a J or U from three
points bent sharply at the middle with straight legs, and the end segments
looked flat.
- `curvature_spline` (draw2.rs) makes each stretch of three points follow the
circle through them: a smooth point's tangent is that circle's
(`smooth_handles`), each handle `chord / (3 cos²(α/2))` long, α between
handle and chord capped at 90° (`arc_handle`). The ends of an open path
mirror their neighbour's tangent in their chord (`end_handle`). A turn
tighter than 30° (`TIGHT_TURN`) shortens its handles, so a narrow V comes to
a point. Degenerate points become corners. `path.curvature` and the rubber
band use it.
- `catmull_rom` is unchanged for the Pencil and Paintbrush fitting.
- `bend_last` (from: smooth), `curvature_move` on a smooth point, the point
`curvature_insert` adds on a straight segment, and `path.convertAnchor` to
smooth without x/y (`curvature_smooth`) use the same rule.
- `curvature_extend` gives the new end its end handle unless Alt-clicked
(`corner` param on `path.curvatureEdit`).
- Neighbours of a point dragged on an existing path keep their tangents (a
Pen-drawn shape isn't reshaped); the path being drawn re-curves throughout.
When entering text edit mode via double-click from a selection tool
(Selection or Direct Selection), pressing Escape now returns to the specific
tool used before double-clicking (rather than always falling back to
Selection).
Additionally, when editing text while in isolation mode (such as when drilling
into nested groups with the Selection tool), pressing Escape exits text editing
while keeping isolation mode active; a second Escape press is required to exit
isolation mode.
- Record the previous tool in TypeTool on double-click from canvas.
- Return to prev_tool on ToolKey::Escape, consuming the key in shortcuts when claimed.
- Add unit test in vectorcraft-tools verifying Escape returns to prev_tool.
- Add integration tests in vectorcraft-ui-egui verifying Escape returns to Direct
Selection and that isolation mode persists until a second Escape.
- Update docs/target-app-parity.md and ROADMAP.md.
With the Direct Selection tool ("white arrow", shortcut 'a'), double-clicking
a text element (either standalone or nested inside a group) now switches to
the Type tool and immediately positions the caret at the clicked character,
matching the behavior previously introduced for the Selection tool in #284.
- In DirectSelectionTool::pointer, detect double-click hits on NodeKind::Text
when !self.group and emit Action::SwitchTool("type").
- Group Selection (group: true) retains its existing group cycling behavior.
- Add unit test in vectorcraft-tools verifying tool switch on both standalone
and grouped text.
- Add headless egui integration test in vectorcraft-ui-egui verifying tool switch,
caret positioning, and inline editing without triggering shortcuts.
- Update docs/target-app-parity.md and ROADMAP.md.
Document Info › Objects counts the paths but didn't say how long they are,
which sign and print work reads there (an LED strip along the letters, a
cut line). `document.info` now adds up the length of every path it counts,
the pieces of compound paths included and guides left out, and returns it
as `pathLength` (pt); the Objects section shows it as Path Length in the
document's units, right after the Paths count, so Selection Only gives the
selected paths' length. The label is translated in the catalogs that
cover the menus; pt-br only takes strings the UI itself shows.

At 180° and 360° of twist, Extrude & Bevel and Inflate drew some wall
strips in the wrong order, and a far strip showed through a near one.
Each strip ran the whole length of an outline edge and was sorted by
the depth of its center, while a twisted wall can cross it far from
that center. The caps were sorted the same way.
Twisted walls and bevels are now drawn in pieces about as long as a
wall slice is wide (fewer near the 32,768-facet limit), and twisted
bevel steps turn at most 6° each, as wall slices do. A cap, or
Inflate's flat back, that faces the viewer is drawn after the walls,
and edge-on pieces of a twisted wall keep their own depth. Pieces that
face the viewer are drawn where their strip as a whole faces away, so
a twisted solid seen from behind shows its walls' corners around the
back cap. Untwisted solids give the same facets as on main.
Over 80 twisted squares, the facet seen over a point lay up to 79.7 pt
behind a nearer facet on main and now lies at most 5.0 pt behind.
"Twisted" in 72 pt type, extruded with a 360° twist, takes 12,311
facets instead of 7,622 and 3.1 ms instead of 1.9 ms.

The reference app's Scribble Options have a Variation for each of Path
Overlap, Curviness and Spacing. Scribble had one `variation`, which
moved each line's ends both along the line and across it, and every
turn of a scribble took the same curviness. An angle such as 270 was
stored as given.
Scribble now takes `overlapVariation` (pt, default 0.5), which moves
the ends along the line, `spacingVariation` (pt, 0.5), which moves
them across it, and `curvinessVariation` (%, 0), which varies the
curviness from one turn to the next. The dialog shows each Variation
after the option it varies, and the Appearance panel lists all three.
A Scribble saved or scripted with the earlier `variation` reads it as
the Path Overlap and Spacing variations. With the defaults, and with
the earlier `variation`, Scribble draws the same outline as before.
`effect.apply` and `effect.setParams` store an angle above -180 and up
to 180, so 270 is stored as -90, and the dialog shows the stored value.
The Appearance panel's inline editor lists an effect's values in
their current form, as the dialog does. It listed an earlier key next
to the defaults of the keys that replace it.
Docs: docs/effects-parity.md (Stylize row), docs/target-app-parity.md.
Effect › Blur › Smart Blur had only its Normal mode: the dialog and
blur.smart took Radius, Threshold and Quality and drew the blur.
Smart Blur now takes a `blurMode` param ("normal", "edgeOnly" or
"overlayEdge"; "normal" by default), which its dialog shows as a Mode
menu. Edge Only draws the edges in white on black, and Overlay Edge
draws them in white over the Normal blur. A pixel is on an edge when
one of its four nearest pixels differs from it by more than the
threshold in a channel and its channels, alpha included, add up to at
least that pixel's. The white and the black keep each pixel's
coverage. Normal draws the same pixels as before, and an effect saved
without `blurMode` draws as Normal.

Copy and Cut made the system clipboard's formats in the frame that ran
them. The formats include the SVG markup and a PNG of the selection at
1 px per pt, up to 4,096 px a side. In a release build on Windows, Copy
of 50,002 rectangles on a 1600 x 1200 pt page took 1.00 s in its frame.
The thread that writes background saves and exports now makes the
formats from a copy of the clipboard, and the app writes them in a
later frame. The same Copy takes 0.18 s in its frame, and the SVG and
PNG are the same bytes. While that thread has a save, an export, a print or
a recovery copy to finish, Copy and Cut make and write the formats at
once. A later Copy or Cut, or text copied in a field or with the Type
tool, drops formats that are not written yet. Until they are written,
Paste on the canvas takes the internal clipboard, and while a text
field or the Type tool has the keyboard the app waits for them.

In the Artboards panel, a click or a double-click on a row's options
icon (the page at the right end of the row) chose the Artboard tool on
that row's artboard and opened no dialog. The panel menu's Artboard
Options… also only chose the Artboard tool.
A click on the active artboard's icon, or a double-click on another
row's icon, now opens Artboard Options for that row's artboard. The
first click on another row's icon makes its artboard active, as a
click on the row does. The panel menu's Artboard Options… opens the
dialog for the active artboard. Both run tool.options with tool
"artboard", as a double-click on the Artboard tool's button does, and
they no longer choose the Artboard tool. The icon's tooltip is now
Artboard Options, and the old tooltip's row is removed from the 15
catalogs.
Opened with another tool, Artboard Options did not move the art with a
new X or Y. It now moves the art when the Artboard tool's Move Artwork
with Artboard option is on, as it does while that tool is in use.

Effect › Pathfinder left type in the group out of all ten operations,
on the canvas, in Expand Appearance and in exports. The text outliner
returns type as a group with one path per run. `leaves` in
crates/effects/src/group.rs took that group as one leaf, and
`geometry` gives no path for a group. A 100 x 100 pt square grouped
with a 100 pt "H" inside it kept all of its 10,000 pt² after Subtract
and Expand Appearance. In the shape modes a member group with type in
front also lost its paint, because it took the style of the outline
group, which has none.
`leaves` now takes the paths and compound paths of the outline art at
every depth, as it does for a member group, and gives each one the
type's opacity and blend mode. The same square keeps 8,684.88 pt² after
Subtract and Expand Appearance, its 10,000 pt² less the glyph's
1,315.12 pt².

perf --deep printed the memory at eight points of its run, and no row
showed memory that the run took and freed between two readings. With
--paths 2000, a release build on Windows printed 430 MB as its largest
row, and the process's peak working set was 612 MB. On Windows the
memory row after rendering the photos also printed its value 3 columns
right of the others: its name is 55 characters, and the name column is
52 characters wide. The tracked row for the photos printed its value 2
columns right of the other tracked rows: its name is 54 characters, and
their name column is 52 characters wide. In the budget table the handle
and segment drag rows printed their values 1 and 2 columns right of the
other rows: their names are 41 and 42 characters, and the name column
is 40 characters wide.
Each memory row now also gives the peak so far: the peak working set
(PeakWorkingSetSize, from the same GetProcessMemoryInfo call) on
Windows, and VmHWM from /proc/self/status on Linux. On macOS the rows
give no peak. A new last row gives the memory after the SVG export and
the save → open → save at the end of the run. The name columns of the
memory rows, the tracked rows and the budget table are 56, 54 and 42
characters wide. The help says on which systems the rows give the peak.

The renderer kept the shapes it drew for plug-in effects while the
object stayed the same. When a plug-in was installed for the first
time, installed again or removed, a renderer that had drawn the object
went on drawing the shapes from before the change.
When the plug-in registry's revision changes, the renderer now drops
the effect geometry and the effect art of objects with a plug-in
effect, and the cull bounds of every object that is or holds a symbol
instance or an object with a plug-in effect. Each thread then drops the
pattern tiles whose art has a plug-in effect or shows symbols or
patterns. The renderer adds the revision to the inputs of a raster
when its content has a plug-in effect, or shows symbols or patterns
while the document's symbol or pattern art has one, and to the key of
a live object's evaluation when the object, or an object it shows, has
a plug-in effect.
With other builds running, a temporary release test timed that key for
the 400 live objects in each of three documents at 11 to 609
microseconds a frame, against 9 to 433 before.
Docs: docs/target-app-parity.md, docs/gaps.md.
Object › Artboards › Fit to Artwork Bounds and Fit to Selected Art ran
artboard.fitToArt and artboard.fitToSelection without an index, so
they resized artboard 1 whichever artboard was active. The Artboards
panel menu's Fit to Artwork Bounds already passed the active artboard.
The app now passes its active artboard as the index of the two
commands when a call names none, as it passes the artboard to Align to
Artboard, All on Active Artboard and Paste in Place, in Front and in
Back. That covers the menu items, keyboard shortcuts, the command
palette and MCP's run_command in remote mode. A batch passes its
artboard as the index to their steps that name none, and a recorded
action leaves the index out, so an action resizes the artboard that is
active when it plays. The params texts of the two commands and of
command.batch describe where the index comes from.

For Auto Size area type in columns, every text edit, each keystroke of
the Type tool included, laid the text out in one column and then laid
the columns out at that height and at each step of a bisection for the
least height that holds the text. In the release-build timing test
auto_height_in_columns_typing_timing (stories of 5,000 to 50,000
characters at 9 pt in a frame 500 pt wide), a keystroke laid the
columns out 18 to 22 times, and typing at the start of the story of
50,000 characters in 2 columns took 1,670 ms a keystroke.
The bisection now runs on the lines of the one-column layout.
columns_hold computes where those lines would sit in the columns, with
each column's first line at its first baseline below the column's top
(LineInfo::first_baseline, new in vectorcraft-text). The columns are
then laid out at the upper height the bisection ends on and, when they
hold the text there, at the lower one, unless that is the 1 pt it starts
from. When they hold the text at the upper height and not at the lower
one, Auto Size takes the upper height. When taller columns always hold
the text, the old search ends between the same two heights. When the
text wraps around other objects or does not fit the one-column layout,
or when that check fails, the columns are laid out at every step as
before. The same keystroke now takes 292 ms.
Docs: docs/target-app-parity.md.
On each pointer move of an Alt-drag with the Perspective Selection
tool, Session::preview put the drag's snapshot back and ran
perspective.move with copy again, and persp_edit copied every selected
object again. An Alt-drag of a plane widget with the Perspective Grid
or Perspective Selection tool ran perspective.plane.move with objects
"copy" again, and plane_move copied every object on the plane again.
Both commands now take their copies from preview_copies, as
apply_transform does for the Selection and transform tools: the first
preview copies the objects into a clone of the snapshot, and each later
preview of the same objects on the same snapshot maps only those
copies. The copies keep their ids, and the document, the selection,
the undo step and the journal are the same as before. When the stored
grid still lists attachments of its own, as grids saved before
attachments were kept on the objects do, both commands copy on every
preview as before. With 25,000 rectangles attached to the left plane,
a release build of vectorcraft-cli took a median of 424.8 ms for each
Alt-drag move of the objects after the first preview and takes
328.9 ms with this change. An Alt-drag of the plane's widget took
340.3 ms a move and takes 256.9 ms.

The canvas drew artboard 1's edge in black, 1 px wide, whichever
artboard was active, and drew every other artboard's edge in gray,
0.6 px wide.
It now draws the active artboard's edge in black and draws the other
artboards' edges in gray, at the same widths. The active artboard is
the artboard that the status bar's navigator shows and that Align to
Artboard and Paste in Place use. With several artboards selected by
the Artboard tool, it is the one the tool draws with handles and its
name.
