File › New: personal templates from a user templates folder (#2852) (#3133)
* #2852: personal templates in File › New, Save as Word Template File › New lists the .dotx/.dotm files in the user templates folder under Personal (a subfolder per category, search covers them); a click makes an untitled document attached to the template. Save As › Save as Word Template starts in that folder (<settings>/Templates, made on first use; File › Options › Advanced › File locations › User templates overrides it). Engine: file.listTemplates (bounded, network folders refused, read root applies), file.newFromTemplate sets the attached template, file.options userTemplatesFolder, file.saveTemplate keeps a .dotm name. UI: ui.saveAsTemplate; Save dialog requests carry a start folder. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_012WEhZXSxzS8orX7f9J3qpr * #2852: review — a personal template asks about unsaved changes; network templates folder refused before it's looked at; New lists the folder once per visit with Refresh; .dotx/.dotm labels alike Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_012WEhZXSxzS8orX7f9J3qpr --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: aiongg <aiongtaigi@gmail.com> |

Shape fills: gradients and transparency (#1500) (#1605)
* #1500: shape fills keep gradients and transparency (model, DOCX read/write) A shape's, text box's and canvas's fill is now a `Fill` (solid with transparency, or a gradient kept as the file states it) instead of one opaque colour, so gradients and transparency survive opening and saving. - doc: `fill::Fill`/`Gradient` with sanitizing for hostile input; `.json` keeps writing opaque solid fills as `[r,g,b]` and reads both forms; `ShapeExtra::outline_fill` keeps an outline gradient. - docx read: `a:solidFill` with `a:alpha`, `a:gradFill` (stops, `a:lin`, `a:path`/`fillToRect`, `tileRect`, `rotWithShape`, `flip`), theme fill styles through `a:fillRef` 1-999/1001+ with `phClr`, `a:grpFill`, `satMod`, outline gradients, VML `v:fill` gradients and opacity, canvas backgrounds. - docx write: `a:solidFill` + `a:alpha`, `a:gradFill` as read. - engine/docbin/layout: call sites; drawing still uses the main colour (next commit draws gradients). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * #1500: draw shape gradients and transparency (layout, render, PDF) - layout: WordArt's paint becomes a shared `display::Paint` (solid, linear, radial); `paint_for` lays a fill over the shape's frame (linear at its angle, `scaled` honoured; path gradients circular from their focus to the farthest corner). Shapes, freeforms and canvas backgrounds use it. - render: one `set_paint` for shapes, paths and WordArt; radial gradients; soft edges fade the real fill. - pdf: axial and radial shadings with per-stop opacity. - Review fixes: nested groups without a fill pass theirs on to `a:grpFill`, text-box contents don't take a group's fill, `phClr` transparency only on `phClr` colours, VML focus ends consistent and opacity clamped, `rotWithShape`/`scaled` written only when set, Shape Outline clears an outline gradient, shared stop sanitizing. - docs: file-format, layout parity, gaps #1, roadmap progress log. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * #1500: shape.fill sets transparency and gradients on every selected shape - shape.fill (now cmd/shape_fill.rs) takes {"color", "transparency"?} or {"gradient": {stops, type, angle, focus, rotateWithShape}}; a colour alone keeps the transparency; values are sanitized; applies to every selected shape, text box and canvas as one undo step. - Formatting (shape.fill, shape.effects) keeps a Shift+click multi-selection, as in Word. - view.formatShapePane toggles the Format Shape pane. - Session::undo_mark/merge_undo_since: a pane drag that applies as it goes undoes in one step. - Helpers for the pane: params(fill), stop add/remove/move, directions, variations and presets (variation and preset colours provisional until compared with Word). - Catalog: Shape Fill Gradient, Format Shape Pane. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * #1500: Shape Fill › Gradient and the Format Shape pane - Shape Fill › Gradient: No Gradient, Light and Dark Variations of the shape's colour, More Gradients… (opens the pane). - Format Shape pane (right): No fill / Solid fill (colour, transparency) / Gradient fill (presets, type, direction, angle, stops bar with add/remove/drag and arrow keys, per-stop colour, position, transparency, rotate with shape). Drags preview live, one undo step. - Right-click › Format Shape… on shapes, text boxes and canvases. - Gradient swatches have accessible names; new labels translated (own wording, clean room). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * #1500: preset gradients are our own design (clean room) Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * #1500: Gradient variations, starting gradient and directions as Word 365 does them Observed in Word 365 (behaviour and values only): - Shape Fill › Gradient: a No Gradient swatch, then 13 Light and 13 Dark Variations in a grid five wide, in Word's order; light stops tinted 66/44.5/23.5% with saturation ×1.6, dark shaded 30/67.5/100% with ×1.15; linear ones scaled; corners with their tile rectangle. - Format Shape › Gradient fill starts from the theme's first accent (four stops, 0/74/83/100%). - Corner directions in the pane get the same tile rectangle; Add/Remove sit by the stops bar. - shape.fill carries "scaled" and "tile"; docx exports color_modified (lumMod, lumOff, tint, shade, satMod) so variations use the reader's own colour maths. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * #1500: review fixes for the shape fill ribbon controls - Gradient variations are built from the colour the shown variation came from, so picking variations in turn, or No Gradient, doesn't drift the colour. - A drag's undo mark is forgotten while the Format Shape pane is closed (a stale mark could merge later undo steps). - Dragging on the stops bar away from a handle no longer moves the selected stop; the arrow keys are taken by the bar (no focus moves or shape nudges). - Direction and Type changes keep a linear gradient's "scaled" and an imported tile rectangle; only a corner direction sets its tile. - Colour modifiers (lumMod, lumOff, tint, shade, satMod) live on Rgb in the doc crate, shared by the DOCX reader and the gradient builders. - Previews build their stop list once per swatch, not per vertex. - Translations for the pane's hint, direction and preset names. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * #1500: adapt to main: caret contrast samples gradient fills; upstream tests use Fill/Paint - Paint::at gives a paint's colour and opacity at a point; the caret's background sampling (#299) uses it for shape fills, now gradients or transparent, and the Format Shape previews use it too. - Upstream tests (#886 shapes survive saving, render) build fills as Fill/Paint. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * #1500: adapt to main after the rebase: VML presets, rounded corners, new catalogs - vml_fill takes the shape's shapetype: a VML preset shape (#1377) takes its fill, opacity and gradient from its shapetype when it states none of its own, as it already took its colour. - Rounded-rectangle corners (#1476) and the gradient paints meet in render, PDF and the caret's background sampling; ShapeExtra keeps both `corner` and `outline_fill`. - Tests that landed on main since build fills as Fill/Paint (VML presets, cover pages, VML freeforms, path arrowheads, PDF and render shapes). - The 40 Shape Fill / Format Shape strings in the hr, ko, sv and vi catalogs, which main gained since. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_013kKPnx8r1vcYumjyL3kcuz * #1500: docs: shape gradients and transparency, Shape Fill › Gradient and the Format Shape pane Re-applied on main's docs after the rebase: progress log, file-format, layout and UI parity rows, gaps #1, status lines and revision history; parity checklist regenerated. Focus fills the screen; Full Screen View is a bindable command (#1678) (#1733)
* #1678: Focus fills the screen; Full Screen View is a bindable command View › Focus goes full screen with the document on black and a slim bar whose "⋯" drops the ribbon over the page. Full Screen View (view.fullScreenView, no default key; bind one in Customize Keyboard) shows the pages alone with the search box above them; the two turn each other off. Full Screen (view.fullScreen, F11, #980) keeps its whole-window behaviour. Escape leaves Focus or Full Screen View, then Full Screen, once nothing nearer takes it; the system leaving full screen ends all three. Ctrl+F1 collapses the ribbon (not on macOS). Immersive Reader no longer turns Focus on. The page widget keeps a fixed id so it keeps focus when the rulers hide. Fixes #1678 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * #1678: one Focus path after the rebase; pin the dropped ribbon staying down on a ribbon click main's Focus (#1017) consumed Escape in WordApp::ui before leave_full_screen, so Escape would leave Focus even when it should first collapse a selection or close a popup. That handler is removed: Focus, Full Screen View and Full Screen are left through leave_full_screen only. main's focus_hides_the_ribbon_and_escape_brings_it_back still pins the panes coming back. Full Screen View and Show the ribbon added to the hr, ko and sv catalogs, which main gained since. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_013kKPnx8r1vcYumjyL3kcuz * #1678: Show the ribbon is a named button; a bound Ctrl+F1 wins; Esc in Read Mode leaves a dialog's Escape alone Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_013kKPnx8r1vcYumjyL3kcuz * #1678: parity checklist regenerated after the rebase (Full Screen View counted) Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_013kKPnx8r1vcYumjyL3kcuz * #1678: harness tests for the one Escape path and Ctrl+F1 through the app In Focus with text selected on the page, the first Escape collapses the selection and keeps Focus; the second leaves Focus (fails if the old focus_mode Escape handler in WordApp::ui comes back). Ctrl+F1 sent as a key event collapses the ribbon when unbound, and runs the user's command when bound in the keymap, leaving the ribbon alone (not on macOS). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_013kKPnx8r1vcYumjyL3kcuz * #1678: review — a click on the dropped Focus ribbon gives the page the keyboard; only Ctrl+F1 yields to a binding The ribbon dropped over the page in Focus lies over the canvas viewport and in a Middle-order area, so refocus_after_chrome_click skipped clicks on it and typing went nowhere until the page was clicked (which also put the ribbon away). Clicks on the focus_ribbon layer now count as chrome. The Focus test asserts the page has the keyboard after a ribbon click and that typing reaches it with the ribbon still down. dispatch checks the keymap ahead of an interface shortcut only for Ctrl+F1; Alt+Q and Cmd+Option+R keep their place ahead of user bindings, as before #1678 (test: a_bound_alt_q_still_opens_command_search). Fonts: documents use the craft-fonts Simplified Chinese face too (#888)
Builds with craft-fonts (releases, the FreeBSD job) put only its Japanese faces in the document font database; Noto Sans CJK SC served the interface alone. Simplified-only ideographs in a document then had no face unless the system had one, and the run-level CJK pick from #567 found no face covering a mixed run, which the FreeBSD job's east_asian_run_uses_one_face_covering_the_whole_run caught. The Chinese craft faces now follow the Japanese ones (Mincho stays first for Japanese text). fallback_reads_each_installed_font_file_once_however_many_characters_miss used U+30001.., part of which Noto Sans CJK SC maps (CJK Extension G); it now uses Supplementary Private Use Area-A, which no font here maps. Alt+Q opens Search like Word (#819) (#919)
* Search: Alt+Q opens it from anywhere, like Word (#819) - Alt+Q (and Alt, then Q on the keytips) opens the Search box with its text field focused, from the page or anywhere else; the key's own "q" is never typed into the box or the document. The title-bar box shows its Q keytip and its shortcut in the tooltip. - An empty box suggests common commands; every word of a query has to match (so "insert table" finds Insert > Tables > Table, as the box's own hint promises); Enter runs the top match; "Find ... in the document" opens the Navigation pane on the results. Matching is about 2x faster than before. - tools.search lists matching commands for scripts and agents. Observed in Word for Windows (Microsoft 365): Alt+Q and Alt, Q focus Search with nothing typed; multi-word queries match commands; the list also offers finding the words in the document. Tables: select, insert and move with the mouse; double-click a border to AutoFit (#637)
* Tables: select, insert and move with the mouse; double-click a border to AutoFit Like Word, on top of the border resizing: - Selection areas: just above a column the pointer becomes a down arrow, left of a row the row arrow, along a cell's left edge (inside it) the cell arrow. A click selects the column, row or cell; a drag selects every one up to the pointer. Selected cells are shaded as cells, empty ones too. - Insert buttons: left of a row border and above a column border a "+" shows with the border marked; a click adds a row or column there and puts the caret in it. - Move handle past the table's top-left corner: a click selects the table; a drag shows a dashed outline and, on release, the table floats where it is dropped with the text wrapping around it (Word's behaviour). One undo step. Nested tables and tables outside the main text are only selected. - A double-click on a column border fits the column left of it to its contents (the right neighbour gives or takes the room; on the right edge the table's width changes, up to the right margin). - Table Layout > Select > Select Column (catalog 418/449). Whole-cell selection: a column (or a rectangle of cells over several rows) is not one run of the text, so selecting it makes a block of its cells' paragraphs (`CellRange` on the existing `ColumnBlock`). Bold, alignment, Delete, typing, copy and numbering act on those cells only (a numbered column is one list); table commands (shading, merge, delete columns) take the rectangle; Tab moves on without clearing it; Undo brings the selection back. Cells of one row, or whole rows, stay an ordinary stream selection. The format painter no longer clears a block's text (edit.pasteFormat was handled like a paste). The mini toolbar stays hidden over whole-cell selections and during these drags: pinned above the selection it covered the column areas, the "+" buttons and the move handle. Engine: crates/engine/src/cmd/table_mouse.rs - table.selectAt, table.insertAt, table.moveDrag, table.fitColumn (page coordinates, so agents and the control channel can do the same) and table.selectColumn; hit testing reuses table_resize's drawn geometry, and borders keep priority for resizing. 10 engine tests (areas, a column edited cell by cell, numbering, rows/cells/drags, insert buttons, move, fit, format painter, hostile params). UI: crates/ui-egui/src/table_mouse.rs, wired into the existing canvas mouse handler (no extra ui.interact areas, so clicks in a cell's text still place the caret); kittest tests with real pointer events: column click, row drag, "+" button, move-handle drag in one undo step, double-click fit. New labels translated in all eleven catalogs. Progress docs updated: gaps, ui-parity, target-app-parity, ROADMAP, parity checklist. `cargo xtask ci` passes (fmt, clippy, test, assets, layers, wasm). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Tables: a selected column's word count is its cells'; merged cells shade once With whole cells selected (a column, or a rectangle that isn't one run of the text) the status bar said "12 of 23 words": `Session::selected_text` took everything between the selection's ends. It now takes each piece's own text, a line each, for a column block too, so the status bar, Word Count and the other callers see what is selected. Since #669 a vertically merged cell is one box as tall as its rows, with a `covered` box for each continuation row; shading selected cells skips those, so a merged cell isn't shaded twice. `selected_paths` follows main's `para_paths_in` (#418): a selection ending at the start of the next paragraph doesn't take it. - Test: a selected column's text is its three cells' and Word Count says three words. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Tables: double-click AutoFit and the "+" buttons work as in Word Checked against Word (2019, Windows): - A double-click on a column border fits the column left of it to its contents and the columns right of it keep their widths, moving with the border, so the table narrows or widens (up to the right margin). The right neighbour used to give or take the difference. - A "+" insert button selects the new row or column (the caret used to go into it); typing then goes into its first cell. If the table can't take another row or column, nothing changes. - A double-click along a cell's left edge (the cell selection area) selects its row. - Tests: engine (fit keeps the columns on the right; insert selects the new row or column, typing lands in its first cell) and kittest (real double-click on a border; "+" selects the row; double-click by a cell's edge selects the row). Ribbon groups fit above their labels (View › Show, Developer › Controls, Layout › Paragraph) (#910)
View › Show stacked four check boxes in a column made for three: since Hide White Space (#645) joined Ruler, Gridlines and Navigation Pane, the fourth row was drawn over the "Show" group label. It now sits in a second column. A new test draws every tab in every interface language and fails on any group taller than the ribbon's content area (CONTENT_H, 66 pt). It found: - Developer › Controls, 75 pt: 3 pt after each row of small buttons. The rows now fill the height with no gaps, like every other stack. - Layout › Paragraph (#654), which panicked in debug builds: `add_space` between grid cells trips egui's "add_space makes no sense in a grid layout" assertion. The 8 pt gap before the Spacing column now sits inside those cells, so it looks the same. The group was also 68.5 pt: 1.5 pt between rows instead of 3 fits it. - widgets.rs: under cfg(test), group_titled records any group whose content is taller than CONTENT_H. - ribbon.rs: ribbon_groups_fit_above_their_labels. - ROADMAP progress log and docs/ui-parity.md revision history. - contributors/people.toml: my own entry. - Model (doc::smart_art): layout, items (text + level), colour variant; capped at 100 items, 255 characters, 8 levels. - Layout algorithms of our own (docx::smart_art) place rounded rects, circles, bands, arrows and connectors; WordCraft draws the graphic from the same dsp:drawing it saves. - DOCX: data (dgm:dataModel points and connections), our own layout/quick-style/colour definitions under the built-in identifiers, the drawing part, relationships and content types. A diagram reads back editable only when its data part is exactly what WordCraft writes. - Commands: insert.smartArt, smartArt.items/addShape/promote/demote/layout/colors/reset/textPane, one undo step each; picture.size relays out a SmartArt graphic. - UI: layout picker with previews drawn in code, SmartArt Design tab, Text Pane; strings in all 9 catalogs. - Diagram reader draws `line` presets top-left to bottom-right (was the other diagonal). Outline view: Outlining tab, levels, collapse/expand, Show Level (#493) (#499)
* Outline view: Outlining tab, levels, collapse/expand, Show Level (#493) - View › Outline is its own view mode: the body on one long sheet, each paragraph indented by its outline level behind a symbol drawn in code (circled plus for a heading with content, circled minus for one without, a dot for body text); paragraph indents and alignment hidden. - Collapsed headings hide their subtree and get a wavy line; Show Level 1-9 / All; Show First Line Only; Show Text Formatting off draws everything in the Normal style. All of it is view state (ViewState.outline), not saved; collapsed headings are found again by their text after edits, and a caret entering hidden text moves on to the next shown paragraph. - Commands: outline.promoteToHeading1/promote/demote/demoteToBody/level/moveUp/moveDown, outline.expand/collapse/toggle/selectSubtree, outline.showLevel (+ showLevel1-9, showAll), outline.firstLineOnly, outline.showFormatting, outline.close, outline.state. In Outline view Move Up/Down and Promote/Demote take a collapsed heading's hidden content along. - Keys: Alt+Shift+Plus/Minus expand/collapse, Alt+Shift+1-9 and Alt+Shift+A Show Level. - Outlining tab (next to File while in Outline view): level box, promote/demote, move, expand/collapse, Show Level, the two check boxes, Close Outline View. Clicking a symbol selects the heading with its content; double-clicking expands or collapses it. - Catalog: Outlining tab rows (421/453, 92.9%); translations in all nine catalogs; docs. Vertical text for sections (w:textDirection) (#491) (#496)
- Model: SectionProps.text_direction (horizontal, tbRl, btLr); unknown values read as horizontal. - DOCX: w:textDirection in w:sectPr read and written in CT_SectPr order (after w:titlePg, before w:bidi), also inside w:sectPrChange. - Layout: a vertical section is laid out on its page turned on its side (margins, page borders and columns turned with it) and each page is turned onto the real page: tbRl lines run top to bottom stacking from the right, btLr bottom to top from the left. Pictures, shapes and text boxes stay upright; headers and footers stay horizontal; a section turning the other way starts a new page. - Display: in top-to-bottom text ideographs, kana, Hangul and full-width forms stand upright (ideographic comma/full stop moved to the upper right); Latin lies on its side. Raster and PDF draw it unchanged. - Hit testing: clicks outside turned lines find the nearest turned line. - Command layout.textDirection (Layout › Page Setup › Text Direction): turns the selected cells or the text box the caret is in, else the section; ribbon menu and keytip. Templates and Add-ins: attached template, update styles, Organizer (#377) (#382)
* Templates and Add-ins: attached template, update styles, Organizer (#377) - Model + DOCX: Settings keep the attached template (w:attachedTemplate's external relationship of the settings part) and w:linkStyles; both round-trip, written in CT_Settings order (after w:mirrorMargins, before w:trackRevisions). - Engine: tools.templates (state), tools.attachTemplate, tools.detachTemplate, tools.linkStyles, tools.updateStyles (copy the template's styles and defaults, one undo step; path or base64 data), styles.organizer (list), styles.copyFrom (copies missing bases, linked halves and the lists a style numbers with), styles.rename. The template path comes from the document, so it is never read automatically (not on open either): only an explicit tools.updateStyles / attach with update reads it. - UI: View > Templates > Templates and Add-ins dialog (path, Attach..., automatically update document styles, Organizer...) and a two-list Organizer (Copy, Delete, Rename...); strings in every catalog, Estonian included. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Review fixes for #382: never follow a template path to another machine A document's w:attachedTemplate can name \\host\share\T.dotx, //host/share or file://host/share. Content controls: keep, show and edit w:sdt (#381) (#392)
* Content controls: keep, show and edit w:sdt (#381) Content controls are now part of the model instead of being unwrapped on open: ControlStart/ControlEnd markers around their content (inline or around whole paragraphs), with table, row and cell wraps for controls around tables, repeating-section rows and cells. All sdtPr properties round-trip (title, tag, id, lock, placeholder, temporary, rich/plain text, w14 check box, combo box, drop-down list, date, picture, building block gallery, w15 repeating sections); unknown children are kept verbatim. The writer plans per block list which controls are written inline and which around blocks so the XML always nests, and drops markers that lost their partner. Editing: deletions keep a marker whose partner is outside the range, typing replaces a shown placeholder, emptying a control brings it back, sdtLocked and contentLocked refuse with a status message. Developer tab with insert commands, Design Mode, Properties dialog; frames and title tabs on the page, check boxes toggle on click, list and calendar pickers. On read, a chart part becomes editable only when writing its model again gives the same markup; every other chart stays read-only and kept as before (#319). - Drawing reuses read/chart.rs (the model is drawn from its generated part); data labels (c:dLbls showVal) are now drawn for bar, line, area, scatter, pie and doughnut charts. - Commands: insert.chart, chart.type, chart.editData, chart.title, chart.legend, chart.dataLabels (one undo step each); picture.size redraws an editable chart at its size. - UI: Insert › Chart gallery with previews drawn in code, Chart Design contextual tab, Edit Data grid dialog; strings in all 9 catalogs; catalog 408/439. Draw: Lasso Select, Add Pen, Ink to Shape and Ink Replay (#395) (#408)
* Draw: Lasso Select, Add Pen, Ink to Shape and Ink Replay (#395) - draw.lasso: with no points picks up the lasso; with a loop on a page it selects the strokes mostly inside it and drawings whose centre is inside. draw.lassoMove / draw.lassoColor / draw.lassoDelete move, recolour and delete the selection (one undo step each); it lasts until the document changes otherwise. In the app: drag a loop, drag the selection to move it, Delete deletes, Esc lets go, the Color menu recolours it. - draw.addPen / draw.removePen: a pen gallery (kind, colour, width; capped, validated) shown after the built-in pens, kept in ui.json; damaged entries are dropped on reading. Right-click a gallery pen to remove it. - draw.inkToShape: toggles Ink to Shape (pen and pencil strokes that look like a line, rectangle/square, ellipse/circle, triangle or polygon of up to eight corners become that shape, in the same undo step); with ink lasso-selected it converts the selection (draw.convertInk). Our own recogniser (cmd/ink_shape.rs): chord test for lines, closure test, ellipse RMS fit, closed RDP simplification with corner merging. - draw.replay: Ink Replay plays the strokes back in drawing order with a Rewind / Play-Pause / Forward / Close bar; pages are drawn without ink meanwhile. Each new stroke records its drawing order (Freeform::order), written to DOCX in the drawing name (`Ink Pen 3 #12`) and read back. Catalog 402/434 -> 406/434 (93.5%). New strings in all nine catalogs. Document grid: lines per page and characters per line (#391) (#401)
- Model: `SectionProps::doc_grid` (`w:docGrid` type, line pitch, charSpace) and the paragraph `w:snapToGrid` flag; DOCX read and write (ECMA-376 §17.6.5). - Layout: with a line grid, lines of snapping paragraphs take whole line pitches with their text centred; with a character grid, East Asian characters take whole cells of the character pitch (all text with snapToChars), Latin text stays proportional. Hostile pitches and charSpace are clamped. Headers and footers don't snap. - Command `layout.documentGrid` (type, linesPerPage, charsPerLine, linePitch, charSpace), one undo step, section scope; catalog row under Layout › Page Setup. - Page Setup dialog: Document Grid section; View › Gridlines draws the document grid of a section that has one. UI strings in every catalog (incl. et, sr, sr-latn). - Tests: DOCX round trip, line pitch and lines per page, character pitch placement, command with clamping and undo. Right-to-left tables and sections (#362) (#365)
Tables marked right to left (w:bidiVisual) now lay out mirrored: the first
column stands at the right edge, start alignment and indent are measured
from the right margin, and each cell's start margin and border sit on its
right. Merged cells, turned text and nested tables follow; clicks and the
caret follow the drawn geometry while Tab keeps the logical cell order.
Right-to-left sections (w:bidi) run their newspaper columns from the right,
with the line between columns mirrored.
The table direction is read and written in .docx (section direction already
round-tripped). New commands table.rtl and layout.sectionRtl, a "Table
direction" choice in Table Properties ("rtl" in table.properties) and a
"Section direction" choice in Page Setup, translated in every catalog.

Drawing Canvas: insert a canvas and draw shapes, pictures and text boxes inside it (#344) (#356)
Insert > Illustrations > Shapes > New Drawing Canvas (and Draw > Drawing Canvas) inserts a 6" x 3" canvas in line with text. While it is selected, Pictures, Shapes and Text Box put the new object inside it. Fit, Expand and Scale Drawing change its frame, Shape Fill and Shape Outline colour its background and border, and canvas.member moves, resizes or removes a member. The canvas is the group object with a canvas style: its frame is independent of its members, and members outside it are clipped on screen and in PDF (new Draw::Clip / Placed::Clip). DOCX reads and writes wpc:wpc with wpc:bg, wpc:whole and wps:wsp / pic:pic members. A canvas turns and flips as a whole, like a group (#332): its background, outline and clipped members are drawn inside its turn (Draw::Rotated around Draw::Clip; Placed::Clip carries the spin, its members sit in the unturned frame), and hit testing follows the turned frame. The canvas schema has no transform of its own, so a turned canvas keeps its rot/flipH/flipV as an a:xfrm in a wpc:extLst extension (urn:wordcraft:canvas-xfrm), which Word skips. Insert > Icons: an original icon library, a searchable picker and Icon Color (#309) (#318)
Adds wordcraft_render::icon_lib, 61 monochrome icons in ten categories
(Arrows, Communication, Office, People, Nature, Weather, Shapes, Symbols,
Technology, Transport). They are original WordCraft artwork: simple
geometric line drawings designed on a 24x24 grid as path data in code, with
no icon files and nothing copied from another icon set.
insert.icon {"id", "color"?, "size"?} renders the chosen icon with vello_cpu
to a transparent PNG at about 300 ppi and inserts it at the caret through the
ordinary picture path, so it saves to .docx and every other format. Without
an id it lists the library (narrowed by query and category) and asks the
front end for the picker. picture.iconColor repaints a one-colour picture
in a new colour and keeps its transparency.
Insert > Illustrations > Icons opens a dialog with a search box, category
chips and a grid of icons drawn live by the egui painter from the same path
data; Insert or a double click places the selection. Picture Format > Adjust
gains an Icon Color menu. New strings are translated in every catalog.
Catalog parity 393/434 -> 394/434 (90.8%).

Enclose Characters: put a character in a circle, square, triangle or diamond (#301)
* Home › Font › Enclose Characters: circle, square, triangle or diamond around a character (#297) New command format.enclose {"shape": "circle|square|triangle|diamond" | null, "style"?: "shrink|enlarge", "text"?: string} puts one full-width or up to two half-width characters in an enclosure, changes its shape, or (null) takes the text back out. It is stored the way ECMA-376 describes it: an EQ field with the overstrike switch, eq \o\ac(○,字), with the text as its plain-text result. Layout now draws EQ \o fields: the arguments overstruck as one cluster (centred, \al or \ar). An enclosure symbol among them is drawn as a vector shape around the text in the text's colour, so it never depends on the font having ○ □ △ ◇; "shrink text" scales the text into a one-em shape, "enlarge symbol" grows the shape around text at its own size. Screen and PDF both get it through the display list. Imported Word documents with enclosed characters used to show nothing (the field has no result); they now render. .docx: written as Word stores enclosed characters (begin, the code split so the symbol and the text have their own run sizes, end, no result); the reader recovers the style from those sizes. The style lives in the model as a trailing \* enlarge on the code, never written to a file. Home › Font gets an Enclose Characters button that opens a dialog (Style: None / Shrink text / Enlarge symbol, Text, Enclosure list, a drawn preview); scripts with a shape never see it. Strings in every interface catalog. Phonetic Guide: ruby text (furigana, pinyin) over base text (#296)
* Phonetic Guide: ruby text over base text (#288) Home › Font › Phonetic Guide (format.phonetic) sets small ruby text (furigana, pinyin) over the selected text. The ruby is one inline object anchored at U+FFFC whose plain text is the base, so selection and the caret treat it as one unit and exports read the base text. - Model: InlineObject::Ruby with base, ruby, alignment (ECMA-376 ST_RubyAlign), ruby size, raise, base size, language and the ruby's own formatting. - Layout: the base is drawn in its run's formatting, the ruby above it by alignment (centre, distribute letters/space, left, right); the wider of the two sets the width and the line grows to fit the ruby. Drawn in the shared display list, so screen and PDF both show it. - DOCX: w:ruby read and written with w:rubyPr (rubyAlign, hps, hpsRaise, hpsBaseText, lid), w:rt and w:rubyBase runs with their formatting. Previously only the base text was kept. - Command format.phonetic {"ruby", "align"?, "size"?, "offset"?}: sets, edits or (null/"") removes the ruby, undoable; without "ruby" it opens the dialog and returns the selection's phonetic guide. - UI: Phonetic Guide button in Home › Font and a dialog (base text, ruby text, alignment, offset, size, Remove), strings in every catalog. Field codes like Word's field keys (#339) (#349)
Show field codes instead of results with View > Field Codes (Alt+F9) or
per field with Toggle Field Codes (Shift+F9); a field showing its code is
drawn as { CODE } on light grey. Edit a field's code in a small popup
(double-click a field showing its code, right-click > Edit Field..., or
fields.setCode), and Ctrl+F9 asks for a new field's code. F9 updates
fields and shows the selected ones' results again.
New commands: fields.unlink (Ctrl+Shift+F9) replaces fields with their
text, fields.lock / fields.unlock (Ctrl+F11 / Ctrl+Shift+F11) keep a
result through updates (already saved as w:fldLock), fields.next /
fields.previous (F11 / Shift+F11) select the next or previous field, and
fields.selected reports the fields in the selection. Range fields
(citations) can be locked, unlinked, edited and stepped through too.
The right-click menu gains Update Field, Edit Field... and Toggle Field
Codes when the selection holds a field. Strings are translated in every
catalog; parity catalog, ui-parity, gaps and roadmap updated.

* Draw Table and Eraser: draw tables and split or merge cells with a pen (#303) Insert › Tables › Draw Table and Table Layout › Draw › Draw Table / Eraser. table.draw takes a pen stroke in page points: a rectangle outside a table inserts a one-cell table of that size at the paragraph under its start; a straight vertical or horizontal line inside a table splits the cells it crosses (new grid column or row; untouched cells span it). table.eraser merges the two cells beside the border nearest a point. Each stroke is one undo step. In the app the buttons toggle pen and eraser modes with a live preview, a crosshair with the tool's icon, and Esc to stop; canvas clicks don't move the caret while a tool is on. Splitting through part of a vertically merged cell and erasing beside one are refused with a clear error. Catalog 384/430 -> 387/430. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Draw tab: pen, pencil and highlighter ink, stroke eraser and Hide Ink (#307) Ink strokes are floating freeform shapes: a new Freeform geometry (paths in shape-local coordinates, opacity, and the pen that drew it) on InlineObject::Shape with ShapeKind::Freeform. draw.stroke inserts one anchored to the paragraph under the first point (one undo step; points capped per stroke, strokes capped per page, NaN dropped); draw.erase / draw.eraser with a point deletes the stroke under it; draw.pen, draw.pencil, draw.highlighter, draw.eraser and draw.select set the Draw tab's tool in the session view state; review.hideInk toggles showing ink on screen. The canvas draws a live stroke while a pen is dragged and commits it on release; the eraser deletes strokes it passes over (one undo step per drag); Esc or Select goes back to selecting. Draw tab buttons show the tool in use, with colour and thickness menus; Review gets an Ink group with Hide Ink. Ink renders with round caps and joins on screen and in PDF; highlighters are translucent and behind the text. DOCX writes freeforms as wps:wsp with a:custGeom (moveTo/lnTo) in a wp:anchor and reads them back, along with simple custom-geometry freeforms from other files. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * #315 review fixes: eraser undo test, sanitized tap dots, custGeom path cap, ink docs - draw.eraser with a point erases through draw.erase: test that it is one undo step (undo/redo) and marks the document dirty. - Render and PDF: a single-point stroke's dot is drawn at the sanitized point, not the raw first one. - DOCX custGeom reading stops once MAX_PATHS paths (subpaths included) are collected, across a:path elements. - docs/file-format-parity.md: ink is saved as custom geometry, not InkML, so Word shows it as a freeform. - widgets test: theme::apply takes an Appearance (#317). Define New Multilevel List and Track Changes Options dialogs (#342)
* Define New Multilevel List and Track Changes Options dialogs (#328) Home > Paragraph > Multilevel List > Define New Multilevel List edits all nine levels with a live preview: number text and style, start, restart after a level, linked paragraph style, alignment, aligned-at and text indent, what follows the number with an optional tab stop, and the number's font. OK runs the new list.define command (list.get reads a definition back). List levels gain a restart-after level and a tab stop, which the counters and layout honour and .docx reads and writes (lvlRestart, num tab); number alignment now places the label. Review > Tracking's launcher opens Track Changes Options: show comments, ink, insertions and deletions, formatting; balloon mode; insertion and deletion marks and colours; changed-line bars and their colour; track formatting. They go through review.trackingOptions, are saved per user with the interface preferences, and the page drawing honours the marks, colours, hidden deletions, change bars and inline mode. Free rotation and flips for pictures, shapes and text boxes (#332) (#340)
Drawings carry an angle and horizontal/vertical flips on their placement (Float::rot, flip_h, flip_v), read and written as DrawingML a:xfrm rot, flipH and flipV for pictures, shapes, text boxes and groups; the written effect extent covers the rotated bounds and reading takes that overhang back out. Layout draws them turned about their centre (screen and PDF), square wrap and inline lines keep clear of the rotated bounds, and hit testing follows the turned shape. arrange.rotate now turns the frame (90 degrees, flips) instead of rewriting pixels; arrange.rotation sets an exact angle. The canvas frame has a rotation handle (Shift snaps to 15 degrees) and turned frames resize along their own axes; Picture Format and Shape Format get a Rotation box and a Rotate menu. Text inside a rotated text box stays upright for now. Groups turn and flip as a whole (wpg:grpSpPr a:xfrm): members keep their own turn inside the group's, are carried round its centre, and a group's text boxes move with it. Shape effects are drawn inside the turn; a shadow's direction follows DrawingML rotWithShape (kept on the model, true when absent; Word's presets write 0, so their shadows keep their page direction).
