Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 de9b9e82bc Updates: check only when asked (no check at start) ...

By the owner's decision there is no update check at start and no in-place
install for the foreseeable future. The startup option, its setting and the
first-frame trigger are gone; Help ▸ Check for updates is the only request.
Settings written by a build that had the option are ignored.
