* CI: the shared gate workflow; nightly fuzzing in fuzz.yml
* CI: run the gate now that the shared workflow is on craft-common-actions main
* CI: adding full-ci to an open PR runs the gate; fuzz checkout keeps no token
* fix(links): use resolve_absolute for remote document paths
* fix(ui): refuse output file names that end in a dot or a space
* ci: check that git dependencies come from storytold
* ci: release only with git dependencies from storytold
* ci: check git dependency sources on a locked, parsed Cargo.lock
The git-sources step in ci.yml and release.yml fails when Cargo.lock is
missing, when .cargo/config.toml replaces or patches a source, when
Cargo.lock is out of date with the manifests (cargo metadata --locked),
and when any package source parsed from Cargo.lock as TOML is a git
source outside github.com/storytold/. A grep on Cargo's usual spelling
missed single-quoted strings and stale lockfiles.
* fix(links): a Windows path on Unix is refused, not reported as needing a source
resolve_remote_document_path reported MissingSourcePath for any path that
resolved but not to an absolute one. With an absolute source, such a path
is one this platform cannot open (C:\x.pdf on Unix): it is now
NotLocal(Invalid). A relative target from a missing or relative source
still gives MissingSourcePath.
* ci: check the legacy .cargo/config for source replacement too
Cargo reads .cargo/config as well as .cargo/config.toml, so the
git-sources step greps both; grep -s keeps a missing file from
failing the step.
* ci: parse cargo config for source replacement, patches and path overrides
ci.yml had no permissions block, so its token got the repository
default. Its jobs only check out code, restore caches and upload
artifacts, so contents: read is enough.
The permissions half of item 6 in #1114.
Pin third-party actions to full-length commit SHAs (with version comments)

Gap 12 of docs/gaps.md: until rendering is measured, every claim about its quality is a judgement.
Text extraction had an oracle and written output had qpdf; rendering had nothing.
`cargo xtask render-oracle` renders page 1 of every corpus file with our CLI and with Poppler's
pdftoppm and reports how far apart they are. The metric is the point. A raw pixel comparison is
useless here -- two correct renderers disagree on every glyph edge, so it calls a perfect page
badly wrong and says nothing about whether a shading is missing. `pixels::compare` counts a pixel
as differing only when it differs from every pixel in the other image's 3x3 neighbourhood by more
than a tolerance, in both directions, taking the worse. A one-pixel shift is forgiven; absent or
miscoloured content is not.
First reading, 250 files at 72 dpi, tolerance 8: 229 compared, median 0.89%, mean 2.16%, p90
5.35%, 25 within 0.1%. It reports rather than gates -- the corpus is not on CI, and a first
reading of a borrowed renderer is a baseline to improve on, not a bar to clear. The worst results
cluster on JBIG2 `bitmap-*` files and on ZapfDingbats, which aims the renderer work at something
specific for the first time. 15 files could not be compared because the two renderers round the
page box to different pixel sizes; they are reported as unmeasurable rather than scored.
Verified against the knob's bounds end to end: tolerance 255 scores every file 0.00%, tolerance 0
takes the median to 0.95% and p90 to 26.36%.
Also turns on `extract_type3_shared_xobjects_matches_poppler_pixels`, which had never run anywhere.
Poppler is now installed on the Linux runner, and the test is version-robust by construction --
both sides of its comparison go through the same pdftoppm, so it is about our two documents rather
than about Poppler's output. Verified in all three states: runs and passes with pdftoppm present,
skips without it, fails without it when PDFCRAFT_ORACLES_REQUIRED is set.
`run_capture` keeps its exact behaviour, including leaving the buffer empty on non-UTF-8 output;
the byte-oriented capture an image needs is a second entry point on the same timeout logic.

Every test that wanted an external oracle probed for it by hand and chose for itself what to do
when it was missing. The common choice -- print a line and return -- reports as a pass, so a suite
with no oracles installed looked exactly like one in which every oracle agreed.
That was not hypothetical. No CI runner installed qpdf, so `qpdf_agrees` had never executed on a
runner, while README.md said saved output was "independently checked with qpdf". For R2-R4 that
test is the only check of owner-password authentication (Algorithm 7) that does not go through our
own code.
`pdfcraft-oracle` holds the probes and one rule: a missing oracle is a declared skip or a failure,
never a silent pass. `PDFCRAFT_ORACLES_REQUIRED` picks which, on the same convention as
`CRAFT_FONTS_REQUIRED`. CI installs qpdf and sets it, so a skip notice there is now a red build.
The crate has no panicking path of its own; `or_skip!` expands its assert into the caller, which
is test code.
Verified by running the qpdf tests against qpdf 12.4.2 for the first time -- they pass, so the
README claim is now both enforced and true. Both gate directions were watched: absent and
unrequired skips with a notice, absent and required fails with the install command in the message.
Only qpdf is installed in CI, because it is the only tool the test job uses. The Poppler pixel
comparison in crates/organize stays ignored until a change turns it on and verifies it there.

* M7: support shaped Thai text in Add Text and UI fallback fonts
Share the bounded shaping and Type 3 writer with Thai, preserving vowel and tone clusters and original Unicode through save/reopen. Keep the Thai face optional and update UI notices and their translations.
Constraint: Thai font assets remain in the companion craft-fonts repository.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: moderate

* M7: show Thai Add Text before and after the fix
Document the rejected input on the base commit and the saved Thai text on the fixed build using genuine UI captures.
Constraint: Synthetic content and licensed fonts only; system font fallback disabled.

* M7: demonstrate Thai stress cases in the comparison screenshot
Show nine lines of stacked marks, both Sara Am encodings, Thai digits and mixed Latin text. Verify all 198 Unicode code points survive saving and extraction with both PdfCraft and Poppler.

* CI and releases: craft-fonts pin to 3d9ab3a (adds Noto Sans Thai)
ci.yml, freebsd.yml and the craft-fonts-ref release.yml passes to craft-common-actions move
from 8dcdacd to storytold/craft-fonts 3d9ab3a, the revision with Noto Sans Thai (#18), so
Thai Add Text is built in and tested.

* M14: Arabic interface language
A 2,136-entry Arabic catalog (six CLDR plural forms, Arabic month and
weekday names), selected by `ar` and every `ar-*` locale. egui joins
Arabic letters but places words left to right, so the catalog is put
into display order when it loads (bidi::display_rtl); placeholders,
keyboard shortcuts and caption colons stay in place. The command
search matches a multi-word Arabic query word by word.
The craft-fonts pin moves to the revision with Noto Sans Arabic.
crates/fonts/build.rs now refuses to embed Adobe type designs, so the
Noto Sans CJK SC in that revision is never embedded (AGENTS.md §1.1).

The org has 5 macOS slots in total (GitHub Team), shared by every repo's CI and
release builds, and PR CI kept them full, so release builds queued behind it.
macOS now runs only in release.yml; a release that fails on macOS is fixed and
rebuilt.

The app, crates, binaries, bundle id, packaging, icons, screenshots and docs are now
PdfCraft / pdfcraft (repo storytold/pdfcraft). On first launch the desktop app moves the
PrintCraft settings and crash-recovery folders to the new name, and both apps read settings
saved under the old storage key, so upgrades keep recent files, preferences and unsaved work.
The signing test fixtures keep their PrintCraft subject names (they are binary).

Shippori Mincho (and its OFL file) leaves assets/fonts/: the Japanese fonts now
live in storytold/craft-fonts. printcraft-fonts gets craft-fonts' build.rs recipe:
with CRAFT_FONTS_DIR=<checkout> it embeds the manifest's fonts as CRAFT_FONTS
(wasm32: only BIZ UDPGothic Regular); without it CRAFT_FONTS is empty and the
app builds, tests and runs as before, minus the Japanese face.
- SHIPPORI_MINCHO is now Option<&[u8]> from CRAFT_FONTS; japanese_glyph
(was shippori_glyph) uses document_japanese_font() (Shippori Mincho, then
BIZ UDMincho, then any Jpan face) and returns GlyphError::NoFont without one.
- Editing PDF text into Japanese without craft-fonts is a clear EditError that
leaves the page untouched.
- UI: every Jpan craft font (BIZ UDPGothic first) is the last fallback of
every egui family, sharing the same static bytes.
- Tests: Japanese glyph/edit tests skip without craft-fonts; new UI tests for
no-tofu Japanese with craft-fonts and working fonts without it.
- CI: the Linux test job checks out craft-fonts at a pinned SHA and runs the
tests with CRAFT_FONTS_DIR. Releases build every platform with it
(CRAFT_FONTS_REQUIRED=1) and ship each font's OFL as OFL-<family>.txt.
- ATTRIBUTION.toml gains [[build_input]] (checked by xtask assets); NOTICE,
AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, README and docs say fonts live in craft-fonts.
