* M6: make list boxes directly selectable and scroll to selection (#1524)
- In-place selection: List boxes are rendered directly on the page and
selectable in place. Clicking an option row selects it immediately;
Ctrl/Cmd-clicking toggles items in multi-select lists, and Shift-clicking
selects ranges, without opening a popup menu.
- Appearance and scroll (/TI): When options are selected, /TI (top index)
is automatically adjusted so the selected items are scrolled into view
within the widget's visible rows, and option rows and selection highlights
are drawn into the appearance stream.
- Unit and UI tests: Added tests in pdfcraft-forms verifying /TI scrolling
and appearance generation for multi-select lists, and UI tests in
pdfcraft-ui-egui covering in-place click and Ctrl-click toggling.
Also ensured test harness in reload.rs explicitly sets language to en.
Fixes#1524
* List boxes: keep the engine's page appearance, consume arrow keys
Drop the overpaint of every fillable list box with an egui mock (it ignored the
PDF's fonts, colours and /MK /R; the engine redraws the appearance with the new
/TI), and consume ArrowUp/ArrowDown in the list overlay so they don't also
scroll the page.

Hovering a check box or radio button that sits on page text showed the
text-selection I-beam. The form layer set the pointing hand, but on a
plain hover it reported the pointer as not consumed, so the text layer
ran afterwards and replaced the cursor whenever a glyph was under it.
Character sheets hit this on every dot: the boxes are set on printed
"OOOOO", and boxes whose checked look is a font glyph (an "X") count as
text too, since page text includes annotation appearances.
forms_ui::page_input now says whether the pointer is merely over a field
or the field owns the press, and the text layer leaves the cursor alone
while a field is under the pointer. Presses, clicks and drags behave as
before; text fields keep their I-beam.

Auto-size fields (`0 Tf`, often inherited from the AcroForm /DA) fit their
value to the box in the page appearance, but the in-place editor and the
preview shown before the page re-renders ignored it: they used a fixed guess
from the box height, never shrank to the width and never wrapped multiline
text, so long values ran past the box and were clipped.
The fit now lives in one place, `appearance::auto_text_size_by` (re-exported
as `field_auto_text_size_by`). The page appearance measures with Helvetica;
the screen measures with the interface font it draws in, which is wider and
breaks lines differently, so the text stays inside the box on screen too. The
editor wraps at the same scaled width the size was fitted to. Explicit sizes
are unchanged and still clip, as in Acrobat.
Tests: forms auto_text_size_fits_single_and_multiline_text (incl. NaN/inf/
negative boxes and a NaN measurer); ui-egui
auto_size_fields_shrink_and_wrap_typed_text_to_fit_their_box (fails with the
old on-screen sizing restored).

* M14: add Lithuanian interface localization
Register Lithuanian UI and date languages with three integer plural forms
and a 2,572-entry contributor-original catalog. Cover dynamic dialog labels,
contextual calendar and certificate wording, commands, tools, and every key
in the other bundled catalogs. Add real-shell calendar, inspector and
password-dialog regressions; preserve PDF values and document state.
Update localization documentation and asset attribution. Native-speaker/VLKK
terminology review remains outstanding.
Validation: cargo xtask ci passed; cargo-deny was skipped because it is not
installed. Five rendered dialogs and contributor manual testing checked UI.
Co-Authored-By: OpenAI gpt-6.1-sol <noreply@openai.com>
* M14: preserve multilingual localization documentation
Restore the existing language descriptions instead of replacing general
localization guidance with Lithuanian-specific coverage. List every
registered language and control-channel code; keep Lithuanian details
alongside the existing catalog descriptions.
Include the previously omitted Kazakh, Polish, Slovenian, Greek and Turkish
catalogs in the shipped-language table without changing the historical
coverage snapshot or existing assessments. Keep Lithuanian roadmap notes
concise and additive.
Validation: all 22 registered languages appear in documentation; every
existing descriptive paragraph is retained. cargo xtask ci passed, with
cargo-deny skipped because it is not installed.
Co-Authored-By: OpenAI gpt-6.1-sol <noreply@openai.com>
* M14: record completed Lithuanian native-speaker review
The contributor confirms they are a native Lithuanian speaker and have
reviewed the translation. Remove obsolete pending-review labels from the
asset manifest and documentation; regenerate ATTRIBUTION.md. Remove the
redundant generated-message disclaimer from the Lithuanian description,
keeping the existing general localization documentation unchanged.
Validation: cargo xtask ci passed; cargo-deny was skipped because it is
not installed. Catalog content and its SHA-256 are unchanged.

* Lithuanian: cover main's Copy Image labels, list lt last, check its glyphs
Adds the six Copy Image rows from #1363, moves lt to the end of LANGUAGES
and DATE_LANGUAGES (after tr), adds lt.tsv to the primary-font coverage
test, writes the JavaScript preferences path with '>' as the other
catalogs do (Inter has no ▸), and refreshes counts and hashes.

* UI: checkboxes draw a rounded-square box, not a radio-button circle
The theme's 6 px widget radius made egui's 14 px checkbox box a circle,
so View > Page display's Continuous scrolling and Show cover page looked
like two more layout radio buttons. On the light theme an unticked box
had no outline and the panel's fill, so it couldn't be seen.
Every checkbox (81 call sites) now goes through widgets::checkbox /
checkbox_without_text, which draws the box with a 3 px radius and a 1 px
border outline, keeping an outline the caller already set (dialogs).
clippy.toml disallows egui::Ui::checkbox and egui::Checkbox::{new,
without_text} so new checkboxes use the helper too.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* UI: radio buttons are outlined and filled, so they show on the light theme
On the light theme the field colour is the panels' white and widgets
have no outline, so an unselected radio button (and an unticked
checkbox) was invisible outside dialogs: View > Page display showed only
the selected dot.
Every radio button (79 call sites) now goes through widgets::radio /
radio_value, sharing the checkbox helper's styling: a 1 px border
outline, text_muted on hover, and on the light theme the plain fill
(hover) as dialogs already had, keeping what the caller set. The dark
theme keeps its fills. clippy.toml also disallows egui::Ui::radio,
egui::Ui::radio_value and egui::RadioButton::new.

* Forms: keep tiles and render unbaked field values during page re-render
In complex interactive forms, switching focus away from an edited field
caused its text to disappear for several seconds while background tiles
re-rendered.
- In DocView, retain existing tiles as stale rather than immediately
purging them on page_changed so the canvas remains sharp without flashing.
- Prioritize visible tiles over backdrops in the render queue.
- Track unbaked form fields and paint an immediate egui widget preview
for committed text, checkbox, and radio inputs until fresh raster
tiles arrive.
- Scope page invalidation on form edits to pages containing the edited
or calculated fields.
- Hoist fields lookup in recalculate_with and apply_changes to eliminate
repeated parsing.
- Run JavaScript scripts via catch_unwind on the current thread instead of
spawning a new thread per script invocation.
- Add contributor entry for Piohrun in contributors/people.toml.
- Add test switching_fields_keeps_committed_text_visible_immediately.
* Forms: address review feedback on tile stale tracking, hoist, and diff invalidation
- Revert crates/js to preserve dedicated 1 GiB stack thread for boa scripts.
- In DocView::page_changed, purge non-current-tag tiles and mark only current-tag tiles stale.
- Restore demand queue order in prepare_render_queue.
- Add unbaked overlay entries only on successful edit apply and only for fields whose values changed; fix font zoom calculation on 90°/270° pages.
- Re-read fields(doc) in recalculate_with only when script returns changes.
- Diff form before and after edit in apply_edit, invalidating pages with changed fields, falling back to document_changed for XFA or page-count changes.
- Add tests covering script recalculation side effects across pages, unbaked overlay cleanup on tile delivery/zoom/rejection, and checkbox recalc chaining.

* Issue #166: Save, Print and Export include the text still being typed in a form field
A field's editor kept its text in a draft until Enter, Tab or clicking away,
and ⌘S (which runs while a field has focus) saved the document first. Typing
also didn't count as unsaved, so closing or quitting didn't ask.
- commit_form_typing(): apply the tab's queued edit, then commit the open
field's draft; if the field refuses the value, keep the editor and text
and stop. Called where the document is read: Save, Save As (and its later
callback), Print, Export, Reduce/Optimize, Sign, Extract, Split, Copy
pages, Flatten, button scripts.
- Uncommitted typing counts as unsaved work for Close, Close All and Quit;
saving from the prompt brings that tab forward first.
- Shortcuts pressed while a form field's editor is open run one frame later,
for that document only, so the field takes the frame's typing and Escape.
- A value refused on Enter/Tab/blur reopens the field with the text.
- Notices show in full screen too.

* i18n: Czech interface language
Adds Czech (Čeština, code `cs`) next to English and Japanese:
Preferences ▸ Interface language, `ui.set language cs`, `ui.state`
and persisted preferences all accept it.
- i18n: `Language::Cs`; `tr()` picks the language's table with a match
(English has none), panic-free. The CZECH table (83 entries) covers
every label passed to `.tr("…")` (main menu, View zoom/theme/side-panel
entries, Preferences dialog), every registered File/Edit/Pages/View/Help
command shown by `registry_menu`, and every key of the Japanese table.
Written clean-room from the English meaning, not from any Acrobat
localisation.
- Tests: Czech covers every registered menu title and label, every
`.tr("…")` literal found by scanning the crate's sources, and the
Japanese keys; nothing is left identical except an explicit KEEP_AS_IS
list ("OK"); ellipses match the source; keys are unique per language;
`cs` round-trips through set_option, ui.set/ui.state and persistence.
- theme: the font setup is split into `font_definitions()`, and a test
checks with skrifa (dev-dependency, already in the tree via egui) that
Inter Regular/Medium/SemiBold and JetBrains Mono draw all Czech letters
and every Czech translation, so nothing falls back to Shippori Mincho.
- The `language` error lists `cs`; docs/localization.md, the parity note
for misc.prefs-language and the ROADMAP log mention Czech.

* M14: translation catalogs, same system as PhotoCraft
Move the interface translations to PhotoCraft's i18n system: one TSV
catalog per language (crates/ui-egui/src/i18n/ja.tsv), the tl! macro,
entries keyed by command id, context or plural forms, and catalog tests
(format, duplicates, placeholders, command ids).
The 49 existing Japanese strings move over unchanged, plus "Auto". The
language preference now defaults to "auto" and follows the system
language (English when it has no catalog); "en" and "ja" still persist
and unknown values are rejected.
Update docs/localization.md, ROADMAP.md and the misc.prefs-language
parity entry.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* M14: complete Japanese dialogs, panels, shortcuts and diagnostics
Expand Japanese from 49 to 1830 interface entries, expose language preferences in the Edit menu, preserve opaque template and history values, and localize known application diagnostics only at the UI boundary. Add control, persistence, template and desktop/web glyph regressions.
Co-authored-by: Codex <noreply@openai.com>
* i18n: add Brazilian Portuguese (pt-br) UI translation
Adds Language::PtBr (code pt-br, endonym Português (Brasil)) with serde rename so it persists as "pt-br", registers it in Language::ALL (Preferences ▸ Interface language and ui.set/ui.state) and translates the same 49 menu/command keys as the Japanese table. Extends the i18n tests (table parity, codes, persistence) and updates docs/localization.md.
* M14: strict catalog validation, one-pass fmt, translation assets
Fold in the infrastructure parts of #175:
- `fmt` fills placeholders in one pass, so inserted values (a file name
containing `{n}`) are never substituted again.
- Catalog validation rejects unknown escapes, unknown `@` contexts,
placeholder, ellipsis and plural-form mismatches and duplicates. The
bundled catalogs must have no errors (tests); at run time a bad line is
still only skipped and logged, so the rest of the catalog loads.
- `.tsv` files count as assets in `cargo xtask assets`, with a
`translation` kind that may never come from Adobe; ja.tsv gets its
ATTRIBUTION.toml entry.
- Control-channel test: switching the language keeps documents, their
dirty state and command ids.
Also make the drawing language thread-local, as in PhotoCraft, so
parallel kittest harnesses can't change each other's language.

* M14: Brazilian Portuguese as a TSV catalog
Move #165's Portuguese table into crates/ui-egui/src/i18n/pt-br.tsv
(same 49 strings, plus Auto) and register it in LANGUAGES with
PhotoCraft's Portuguese plural rule (0 and 1 singular). Any Portuguese
locale (pt_BR, pt_PT, pt) follows the Brazilian catalog, as in
PhotoCraft. The catalog is an attributed asset (ATTRIBUTION.toml), and
the docs and parity notes list the new code.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* M14: Czech as a TSV catalog
Move #68's Czech table into crates/ui-egui/src/i18n/cs.tsv (PrintCraft
labels renamed PdfCraft, plus Auto) and register it with PhotoCraft's
Czech plural rule (one / few / other). #68's tests become catalog
tests: Czech covers every registered menu title and menu command label,
keeps ellipses, uses no three-dot ellipsis or stray whitespace, and only
leaves "OK" untranslated; the code persists and `cz` is rejected. The
source-scanning `.tr("…")` test is dropped: strings now go through tl!
and the catalog tests check consistency.
The font-coverage test moves to tests/fonts.rs and covers both Latin
catalogs (cs, pt-br) against Inter and JetBrains Mono. It keeps skrifa
as a dev-dependency (the version pdfcraft-fonts already uses): egui's
has_glyphs can't answer it, since a family with only the primary face
also uses that face as its replacement face.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* M14: route every UI string through the catalog; Japanese as ja.tsv
Port #141's wiring to the catalog API from land/106:
- `crate::i18n::tr(ui, s)` becomes `tl!(s)`, `tr_fmt`/`tr_template`
become `i18n::fmt(tl!(..), ..)`, and `Language::get`/`store` (the
egui temp-data copy of the language) are gone: the drawing language
is the per-thread `i18n::current()`, set from the preference at the
start of each frame. Worker threads (export, OCR, batch actions) take
the UI's language with them for their summaries.
- ja.rs (1,830 pairs) becomes ja.tsv, merged with the existing entries
and renamed PrintCraft -> PdfCraft. The 29 diagnostic templates of
errors.rs are dropped.
- `Language::diagnostic` and errors.rs are dropped: matching engine and
OS messages against English templates breaks silently whenever the
wording changes. Error details are shown as they are, inside the
translated frame ("{label} failed: {e}").
- History labels (`command_label`/`action_label`) move into i18n and keep
captured file and field names; registry menus prefer `@id` entries.
- Preferences: Auto plus every registered language, relabelled at once.
- Tests: Japanese covers every command and All tools entry; Japanese
labels have glyphs with the desktop faces and with the web subset
(with craft-fonts); history labels; #141's control tests, with the
error-detail expectation updated.

* M14: Preferences in the Edit menu, Cmd/Ctrl-comma
Split out of #141: register app.preferences in the Edit menu with the
platform's usual shortcut (Command-comma on macOS, Ctrl-comma
elsewhere), so the interface language can be found and changed with no
document open. Shortcut keys may now be punctuation (egui's key name
","). #141's control test drives the menu item, the language selector
and the shortcut in Japanese and English.

* Forms: push buttons run their show/hide-a-field action
A push button whose Mouse Up action is a Hide action (ISO 32000-2
§12.6.4.11) did nothing when clicked: the action wasn't read, so the
button counted as having no action at all.
Buttons now read it: /T as a field name, a reference to a field or one
of its widgets (named by its fully qualified name, following /Parent
with a cycle guard), or an array of these; /H false shows instead of
hiding. Clicking hides or shows the named fields and their kids through
the same edit that a script setting field.display uses, so it is one
undo step.
A hidden widget (Hidden or NoView flag) no longer takes clicks, tab
stops, hover frames or field highlights. That also covers fields that a
script hides.
Tests: forms push_buttons_read_hide_actions (names, references, arrays,
/H, a /Parent cycle) and ui-egui hide_actions_hide_and_show_fields.
parity: edit.action-show-hide-field is shipped.
* Forms: push buttons with an action show the pointing hand
Hovering a push button showed the "not allowed" cursor, although
clicking it runs its action. Buttons that aren't read-only and have an
action now show the pointing hand; read-only buttons and buttons with
no action keep the "not allowed" cursor.
Test: hide_actions_hide_and_show_fields checks the cursor (it fails
without this change).

The app, crates, binaries, bundle id, packaging, icons, screenshots and docs are now
PdfCraft / pdfcraft (repo storytold/pdfcraft). On first launch the desktop app moves the
PrintCraft settings and crash-recovery folders to the new name, and both apps read settings
saved under the old storage key, so upgrades keep recent files, preferences and unsaved work.
The signing test fixtures keep their PrintCraft subject names (they are binary).

Each "checked" `expect` becomes `let … else`, `if let` or `?`, with the obvious fallback (the
dialog closes, the command is ignored, the view refresh is skipped). ui-egui and the three apps
now deny the panic lints. The Windows `build.rs` reports a failed resource step with
`cargo::error` instead of panicking.
