Flattening deleted a cloudy comment it could not draw, and a refused text-box restyle or resize left the new properties in the file. Arrow defaults were stored on plain lines. A custom match ending on a separator included the next glyph, and the vertical-text redaction error claimed an overlap it had not checked.

Glyph boxes of tightly spaced lines overlap, so replacement treated the next line as a duplicate and removed it. A second drawing is removed only when it also shares the edited line's baseline.
Rebase onto 7163ba3 (396 commits on). Three adaptations, none of them
behavioural:
- `crates/fonts` renamed its `arabic` module to `shaping` and added
Thai, so `Family::width`'s callers moved; the italic argument is
re-applied to all six, including one new call site main added in
`draw_laid_shaped`.
- `Metrics::text_of` now returns `Cow<str>`, so the F2 tests compare
through `as_deref()`.
- `unicode_map` writes into a struct field now, so `/Differences`
inserts go to `out.encoding`.
`SMALL_ITEM_FINGERPRINT` in added/arabic_tests.rs is re-pinned, and this
is the part worth reviewing. That golden is the appearance-stream pin
F1's acceptance criteria asked for, which landed from the Arabic work
after F1 was written; it caught the change correctly. The item's Latin
run is "Hi " in Helvetica 12pt. The old character-class guess called H
680, i 260 and space 260 (14.4pt); the published metrics are 722, 222
and 278 (14.664pt), verified against the table. The Arabic clusters that
follow start 0.264pt further right, which is the intended effect: the
glyphs now land where the font says they do. The Arabic path itself is
untouched.
Also dropped from the rebase: a re-added ATTRIBUTION entry for
vendor/hayro-interpret/assets/LAB.icc, which main deleted in favour of
CGATS001Compat-v2-micro.icc. Carrying it would have attributed a file
that no longer exists.

`Family::width` chose its standard-14 face from `bold` alone and passed
`italic: false`, while `Family::base_font` writes the item out as the
italic or oblique face. Every italic item was therefore laid out with
upright metrics: Times-Italic `A` is 611 against Times-Roman's 722, so
boxes, wrapping and centring were all sized from the wrong face.
The measure now takes `italic` and the five call sites pass the item's
own flag, which they already had in scope. The test walks all twelve
style combinations and asserts the written face and the measured face
are the same one, so the two can't drift apart again.

pdfcraft_fonts::helvetica_width was a fifteen-line guess by character class,
and seven crates generated appearance streams through it: annot, edit, forms,
ocr, redact, sign and xfa. Times was Helvetica x 0.9, bold was x 1.05, Courier
a flat 0.6. Against the published metrics a Times capital A is 722, so that
estimate said 600 -- a 17% error on a letter, compounding across a line.
Std14 carries the real advance widths for all fourteen faces, indexed by
character code: WinAnsiEncoding for the twelve text fonts, which is what we
write into the appearance streams we generate, and their own built-in
encodings for Symbol and ZapfDingbats. The tables are generated by joining the
published encodings with the per-glyph widths.
helvetica_width now delegates, so every call site gained exact Helvetica with
no change. The three places that faked another face by scaling it -- Family
in edit::added, the paragraph measure in edit::text, and the redaction overlay
fonts -- now select the right face instead. So does Metrics::width in
fonts::pdf, which measures existing document text when a font carries no
/Widths; that path feeds redaction's glyph removal, where a wrong width means
cutting the wrong glyphs.
Tests spot-check the table against values typed in from the specification by
hand, so it is verified against the spec rather than against whatever produced
it; plus Courier being fixed pitch everywhere, full printable-ASCII and Latin-1
coverage, Symbol and ZapfDingbats not being WinAnsi, /BaseFont aliases and
subset prefixes resolving, and hostile text staying finite.

* Edit text: support per-font visual-order Indic text and nukta reordering
- Detect legacy visual-order Indic fonts via Metrics.visual_order (fonts with
Indic codepoints without OpenType GSUB tables, or legacy visual font names).
- Implement Indic visual-to-logical and logical-to-visual pre-base vowel
reordering in crates/edit/src/indic.rs, with support for decomposed/precomposed
nuktas and conjuncts.
- Apply reordering during extraction and source font reuse only when visual_order
is set, leaving modern logical-order text untouched.
- Add unit tests for nuktas, conjuncts, and round-trips in crates/edit/src/indic.rs
and font visual_order tests in crates/edit/src/tests.rs.
* Visual-order Indic: positive evidence only, ActualText kept logical, no font decoding
- A font is visual order only when it is a known legacy Indic family (subset tag
allowed; aps-/dv- as prefixes) with an Indic Unicode mapping. A missing GSUB is
no evidence (bare CFF and subset fonts drop it), so Metrics::from_dict no longer
decodes every embedded font program on every call.
- Lines with /ActualText text are already logical: skip indic::to_logical, so
"बढ़िया" no longer becomes "बढ़यिा".
- reading_lines no longer runs bidi recovery on every line (it changed RTL
reading_blocks output for all documents); only the Indic recovery remains.
- indic.rs indexes through get().
- Tests use a ToUnicode fixture (not visual-order ActualText), cover an edit
round-trip, logical ActualText in a legacy font, and a subset Noto font.

* M10: edit OCR text on scanned pages so the change shows
Editing a recognised word on a scan rewrote it as invisible OCR text, so
the page still showed the old word, and the whole OCR layer grouped into
one paragraph that rewrapped when one word changed.
- An edited invisible paragraph is drawn visibly, over a cover in the
paper colour sampled around it, in the scan's sampled ink colour
(or the chosen colour).
- OCR words group into phrases: a table cell or a tab stop splits them
and each scanned line stays apart; a phrase grows rightwards.
- Styled rewrites measure with the text matrix's horizontal scale, so
stretched OCR words keep their widths instead of overlapping.
- The inline editor covers the scanned word and grows like the result.
* M10: size OCR text from each word's letters
A word box from recognition is tight around the ink, but the text layer
assumed every box spans Helvetica's ascender-descender height. A
capitals-only word such as "DT" spans only the cap height, so its text
was set about 23% too small and its baseline floated up; editing it
then drew the new word visibly smaller than the scanned one.
The em and baseline now come from the word's letters: cap height or
x-height on top, descender or baseline at the bottom. On a real scanned
form, a rewritten "DT" -> "DSI" now matches the scanned word's height
and baseline. The engine OCR-edit tests build their words the way a scan
would box them.
* Edit OCR text: sample colours only for invisible blocks, from the current bytes
Session::apply looked up every edited block with a fresh text_blocks pass and
re-serialized the whole document to render the sampling tile. Text blocks are
now cached per page on the editor (keyed on the unmodified document's source
identity, so any edit, undo or save invalidates them), visible blocks skip
sampling entirely, and the tile renders from the document's current bytes.
Adds a visible stretched-text regression test and documents that editing any
invisible text makes it visible over a painted cover.

Rewriting a paragraph also removed every line overlapping its box by more
than half, to clear fake-bold and repeated copies. Each drag is its own
edit, so after dropping one paragraph on another and dragging it on, the
covered paragraph was taken for a copy and deleted from the content
stream. A copy now also has to show the same text.
The same check is used when replacing a line, so a distinct line drawn
close enough to overlap (#1316) is no longer removed either.
* M7: preserve Arabic text order when copying and editing
Record per-line ActualText for shaped added text and preserve its logical order in Edit text. Cover mixed scripts, marks, copy/search, retyping and save/reopen; retain the drawing golden.

* Edit text: keep only right-to-left ActualText out of line joining and bidi recovery
Word and Chrome wrap Latin ligatures in /ActualText spans mid-word; splitting
lines at every span broke such words into pieces in Edit Text. Only spans
whose ActualText has strong right-to-left characters keep their own line and
typing order now. Regression: a Latin fi ligature span stays on its line.

only when it has rotated text, or when an image or a watermark-sized text

with images inline. Adds a regression test for a page whose image and title
sit clear of the text, and updates the docs and parity notes.

An added Arabic item was rejected once its distinct glyphs exceeded
GLYPHS_PER_FONT * MAX_ARABIC_FONTS (3,840). The glyphs already split
into 240-glyph Type 3 fonts, so that item-wide count was an allocation
policy, not a limit of the format. Remove it: an item now gets one font
per 240 distinct glyphs it needs.
Per-font limits, the outline reads that happen before any object is
added, and the output below the old limit are unchanged. The drawing
core takes its outline source as a parameter, so the tests can run
without the craft-fonts Arabic face.
Co-authored-by: Claude Haiku 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A Japanese replacement with more than 240 unique characters was refused. One
generated Type 3 font holds at most 240 glyphs, so the text is now split into
several fonts, each within that bound. The font changes only where the text
moves to another font, and a single font gets the same operators as before.
The reader joins runs across the subset fonts of one face, only for fonts
written by this code (Type 3, /Name PCJapanese). Other documents are unchanged.
A paragraph whose move or width is refused no longer writes its fallback fonts
before the refusal, so the document is left as it was.

doc_create with from=text wrote every character outside WinAnsiEncoding
(Korean, Chinese, Japanese, emoji) as `?` with no error. It now refuses
such text with the same message page_add_text already gives, naming the
first undrawable character and its code point. Line breaks, page breaks
and tabs are layout and still pass. create_from_text itself is unchanged,
so opening .txt files, comment summaries and compare reports behave as
before.
Add Watermark / Update Watermark can now move the mark from the page
centre by a horizontal and a vertical offset in points (right and up).
- edit: add_watermark refuses a non-finite offset instead of writing it
into the content stream; tests for the placement and the refusal.
- automation: doc_watermark takes offset_x and offset_y (clamped to
+-20,000 points); a test saves, reopens and measures the text moving.
- ui-egui: an "Offset from centre" row with Horizontal and Vertical
fields; the preview follows it for text and for picture watermarks.
- i18n: "Offset from centre" in the catalogs that have a coverage test
(ar, bg, de, fr, hu, it, ja, pt-br, ru, uk, zh-hans); hashes updated in
ATTRIBUTION.toml.
- parity and roadmap: edit.watermark-appearance stays partial (no offset
from the page edge, no print/screen-only variants, no repeat); image
and PDF watermarks no longer listed as missing; progress log line.

* M7: keep embedded CMap ranges compact instead of truncating expansion
A ToUnicode CMap's sequential bfrange used to expand into one HashMap
entry per code, and the parser stopped at 2^20 expanded codes. A valid
CMap with more codes than that lost every mapping past the cap.
Each sequential range is now one record. Codes below 65 536 find their
covering record in a table, higher codes by binary search over a cover
index; the later declaration wins where ranges and explicit entries
overlap. Explicit entries keep their strings. The budget counts an
explicit entry as one and a range as two, since a range covers at least
two codes, so every CMap with at most 2^20 codes is kept whole. encode
finds the lowest code per character from the same records.

Page numbering adds the start number to the position of the page in the run. At the top of the u32 range that addition wrapped, so a release build saved zero for the second page and still reported success, and a debug build hit a caught overflow error instead.
Check the whole run before drawing anything. When the last page number would pass the u32 limit the operation returns an actionable error and the document keeps no header, rather than a half applied run.
Fixes#804.

Viewers draw notes, FreeText, ink and stamps from their dictionary when the file stores no /AP /N. flatten only drew annotations that already had an appearance and then removed the rest, so a supported note disappeared and the saved page came back blank.
Build the appearance a viewer would show for every selected, visible, non-widget annotation that has none, then draw it as usual. A subtype this build cannot render still fails to build and is handled exactly as before.
The new synthetic test draws the note icon into the page and asserts it is baked in; without the fix flatten reports 0 drawn and the icon is lost.

* M2: pages with /UserUnit are shown at their size in points, as in Acrobat
/UserUnit gives the size of a page's user-space unit in points; PdfCraft
ignored it everywhere except the measuring tools, so a /UserUnit 2 page
was shown, extracted, printed and edited at half its size, and the
measuring tools disagreed with the rest of the app.
The value is now read as Acrobat reads it (the page's own entry, a number
from 1 up, at most 75,000; anything else counts as 1) in two places:
- vendored hayro-syntax Page (patch 13): render_dimensions and
initial_transform give the page in points, so rendering, tiles,
PageInfo and the text layer follow; a page without it keeps exactly
the transform it had.
- pdfcraft-model Page: user_unit(), and display_size/view_matrix in
points, so print, header/footer, watermark, background, added content
and measuring agree with the screen. The measure crate drops its own
arithmetic. Added items record the /UserUnit they were written for;
items without the record (written before) read back converted.

* Export to Word/HTML/RTF: read text and images drawn by form XObjects (fixes#314)
The office export built its paragraphs from text_blocks and its images from
page_images. Both read only the page's own content streams (they back Edit
text and Edit image, which rewrite those streams), so a page drawn through
`/Fm1 Do`, as many print-to-PDF tools emit, exported as an empty document.
Add read-only reading_blocks and reading_images to pdfcraft-edit. They
follow Do into form XObjects (nested ones too), apply each form's /Matrix,
use its own /Resources (or the caller's when it has none), and start it
from the graphics state at the Do. Depth is capped at MAX_FORM_DEPTH and a
form already being read is skipped, so self-referencing and mutually
recursive forms are read once. export_pages uses them; editing is
unchanged and still offers only the page's own text and images.
* Export: a page's walk through form XObjects has a total visit budget, so forms that fan out can't hang it
* Export: keep the image walk within clippy's argument limit

A page's /Contents array is one content stream in pieces that writers may
split between any two tokens (ISO 32000-2 §7.8.2). Edit text parsed each
piece on its own, so an operator whose operands ended one piece and whose
keyword started the next arrived with no operands: a `[(After) -20 (wards)]`
/ `TJ` split made the line vanish from text_lines, text_paragraphs and
text_edit, and from the Edit text tool.
The joined-parse logic the redaction interpreter used (#153) moves into
pdfcraft-content as `Pieces`: join the pieces, parse them as one stream,
map positions back to pieces, and splice joined byte ranges back into
per-piece bytes (an edit replacing or removing an operator that spans
pieces rewrites every piece it touches; untouched pieces keep their
objects). text_lines now interprets the joined operators, and replace_line
and rewrite_block splice through `Pieces`. Redaction uses the same helper.
Lines and paragraphs are grouped by the piece their first operator starts
in, as before, so pages whose pieces are separate drawings don't merge.

* D5: README for cos and engine, and an honest cos status line
Thirteen crates have no README, although the session protocol tells every session to read the README of the crate it is touching. These are the two biggest: cos is where every hostile file lands first, and engine is the whole API surface a frontend gets.
Each states its layer and the rules that bind it, sketches the API against the real signatures, and ends with what is deliberately not done. The cos README spells out the clone-is-a-snapshot property and why both writers return bytes rather than taking a sink; the engine README spells out the four-step editing model that makes what you see what Save writes.
Also corrects the module doc on cos/src/lib.rs, which still said encryption and object-stream output for full saves were not done. Both shipped: security.rs handles R2-R6 with crypt filters and /EFF, and SaveOptions::object_streams defaults to true.

Keep rollover, down and custom appearance entries when normal appearances are regenerated, without modifying shared dictionaries. Resolve indirect button caption and layout values. Cover full and incremental saved output, and wait for raster readiness in the existing Linux scroll test.

* pdfcraft-cli --help lists `mcp` only when the build has it
Follow-up to #540: a build without the `mcp` feature (`--no-default-features`) still listed
`pdfcraft-cli mcp` in its usage, and `pdfcraft-cli mcp` then said "unknown command".
USAGE is now put together with `concat!`, and its `mcp` lines come from a macro that is empty
without the feature. In such a build `pdfcraft-cli mcp` says the MCP server was left out instead
of calling it an unknown command.

mcp_without_the_feature_says_it_was_left_out (without the feature)

* M5: flatten Fill & Sign marks when saving
Saving can now bake typed text, marks and signatures into the page, from Preferences or doc_save. The option defaults off, so a normal save still leaves them editable, and other comments and form fields stay.
* M4: zoom the Organize page grid
The page grid draws its pages at 50% to 300%: toolbar buttons with a
percentage that resets to 100%, trackpad pinch or Ctrl/⌘ + wheel about
the page under the pointer, and ⌘+ / ⌘− / ⌘0 (which no longer change the
hidden page view's zoom while the grid shows).
Thumbnails are re-rendered sharper in a few steps as the grid grows,
capped so one document's thumbnails stay within 256 MB. The page under
the pointer (or the first one in view) stays where it is across a zoom.

* M4: zoomed grid pages are rendered at the size drawn
A zoomed page grid stretched 132 pt thumbnails, and the stepped detail
that was meant to help was capped by a memory budget, so a long document
stayed blurry at any zoom.
Pages drawn larger than their thumbnails now get a render at exactly the
size drawn while they are in view; the thumbnail stands in until it
arrives. Only pages in view keep one, so memory no longer depends on the
page count, and thumbnails go back to their one fixed size.

* View: the middle button pans instead of drawing with markup tools
egui's drag responses accept every pointer button, so on Windows and macOS a
middle-button drag reached the page tools: with Draw (ink) selected it drew a
stroke, and other tools cropped, selected or moved. Linux was unaffected
because its middle-click auto-scroll already blocks page input.
Outside Linux a middle-button drag that starts in the viewport (document or
Organize Pages) now pans 1:1 while the button is held, with a Grabbing
cursor, and page input is blocked from the press through the release. Linux
keeps its latched auto-scroll.

* M3: a short page gone to from the Pages panel stays current
The current page was whichever page showed most of itself. Going to a short
page (a cheque) above a tall one scrolls it to the top, where the tall page
below shows more, so the current page and the Pages panel's highlight moved
to the tall page instead of the one clicked. The page navigated to now stays
current while it is wholly on screen.

* M4: page operations from the Pages panel: context menu and drag to reorder
Right-clicking a thumbnail offers Extract pages, Cut, Copy and Paste after, on
the selection or on the page clicked (which becomes the selection), as the
organize grid does. Dragging thumbnails moves the selection, or the page
grabbed, to the gap it is dropped on: a bar marks the gap, the page count
follows the pointer, and the panel scrolls near its edges. The move is one
undoable step; the moved pages stay selected and the current page follows
its page. Documents that forbid assembly keep click-only thumbnails.
Parity: view.thumbnail-context-ops is shipped, with what it still lacks.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* Pages panel: only the primary button drags thumbnails; a drag left over after the panel closed or the document changed is dropped
* M5: translate Fill & Sign flatten labels into Ukrainian
The coverage test failed because the new preference strings had no Ukrainian entries.
* Fix main CI: move the rotated-field render test out of pdfcraft-forms (#591)
#516 added pdfcraft-render as a dev-dependency of pdfcraft-forms for one
rendering test. Both crates are layer 3, so `cargo xtask layers` (run in
CI) rejects the sideways edge and main went red. The test now lives in
crates/engine/tests/form_rotation.rs, where both crates are already
dependencies, and forms drops the dev-dependency. The parity evidence
points at the new location.

Add text, headers/footers and watermarks wrote every character outside
WinAnsiEncoding as `?` and reported success. They now refuse it with a
specific error ("the standard fonts can't draw "中" (U+4E2D) ...") before
changing anything, as the maintainer asked on #327. Form fields and
text-box comments are unchanged (they keep the value).
- fonts: win_ansi_encodable / first_non_win_ansi, defined through
win_ansi itself so a fuller table widens them too; the edited-text
Type 3 decision uses the same check (same character set as before).
- edit: one drawable() check, fed the lines exactly as each tool draws
them, so a CR that would become `?` is refused and CRLF in headers is not.
- ui: the Add-text editor keeps such text open with an inline warning.
Done, a click elsewhere or a double-click on another item don't take
or replace it; it counts as unsaved work; Save stops and shows it; a
deleted page takes its draft with it.
- Arabic (#403): one public check, first_undrawable, follows the drawing:
Arabic shaped with the craft-fonts face is drawable, and only what's left
to the standard font counts. Without the face, #403 still decides for the
Arabic letters (new items refused with what's missing, existing ones stay
movable), but nothing else in the item may become `?`. The editor uses
the same check, cached per draft.
- #403's odd_arabic_text_never_panics: its U+2029/U+0085 input, which was
drawn as `?`, now expects a refusal naming the character.
- The warning is translated (fr, ru, zh-hans, zh-hant, es, ja, bg, de); the
catalogs' SHA-256 entries in ATTRIBUTION.toml are updated.

Replacement text that the line's own (subset) font can't show and WinAnsi can't either goes
to the Type 3 fallback. For serif sources that was always Shippori Mincho, which has no
Cyrillic or Greek, so e.g. retyping a Bulgarian word in a Garamond line failed with
"Japanese fallback font has no glyph for U+0421". BIZ UDMincho and BIZ UDPGothic have the
letters. document_font_for_text keeps the style's face when it shows every character and
otherwise picks the closest Japanese face that does (Mincho first for serif, then weight).
Those faces draw Cyrillic and Greek full-width (1 em, JIS X 0208) with no palt metrics, so
fallback glyphs in those blocks are respaced to their ink width plus a 0.05 em side bearing.

type3_path wrote `wx 0 0 0 0 1000 1000 d1`: seven operands where d1 takes six
(wx wy llx lly urx ury). Lenient renderers (pdfium, Quartz, MuPDF, poppler) ignore the
extra one, but Acrobat treats the glyph as unusable and draws a bullet for every
character of edited Japanese (or other fallback) text. The box is now the glyph's own
bounds, rounded outward; empty glyphs (spaces) get a zero box.

pdfcraft_fonts::win_ansi, edit's is_win_ansi_char and the xtask demo
encoder each carried a hand-written subset of WinAnsiEncoding's 0x80-0x9F
row (quotes, dashes, euro, trademark) and left out Š š Ž ž Œ œ Ÿ ƒ † ‡ ˆ
˜ ‰ ‹ ›. Text editing therefore treated š/ž as non-WinAnsi and sent them
to the Type3 fallback font (or refused them without craft-fonts), and
every other generator (forms, annotations, OCR layer, redaction overlay,
signatures, create) wrote them as '?'.
win_ansi now goes through a new win_ansi_byte, which reads the 0x80-0x9F
codes from the same ISO 32000-2 Annex D table the text extractor decodes
with, and is_win_ansi_char reuses it. xtask doesn't depend on
pdfcraft-fonts, so its demo encoder gets the full row with a pointer to
the shared table. č/ć are not in WinAnsi and still use the fallback.

Add text wrote Arabic as "?" (standard-14 fonts, WinAnsi). Items with
Arabic are now shaped with the craft-fonts Arab face through harfrust
(already in the tree via egui) and laid out line by line in display
order with unicode-bidi (UAX #9), so Arabic mixed with Latin, digits and
brackets reads correctly. Each cluster (a letter with its dots or marks)
is one glyph of a Type 3 font drawn from the face's outlines, with a
ToUnicode entry, so text extraction, copy and search get every letter
once and no font file is embedded.
- fonts: shape_arabic / arabic_glyph / arabic_has / document_arabic_font;
japanese_glyph's bounded outline code is shared as bounded_outline.
- edit: draw_arabic and type3_arabic; wrapping measures shaped words.
Fonts get names free on the page (a full save renumbers objects, not
resource names) and are removed when the item is updated or deleted.
Outlines are read before anything is written.
- Without the face, adding Arabic is a clear error that changes nothing;
an existing item holding Arabic still moves, drawn as "?" as before.
- Non-Arabic items are drawn exactly as before.

Replacing text in a serif line (Times New Roman, say) with Cyrillic failed
with "Japanese fallback font has no glyph for U+0444". The Type 3 fallback
took only the style's first face, Shippori Mincho, which has no Cyrillic,
although BIZ UDMincho and BIZ UDPGothic ship alongside it.
`document_japanese_fonts_for_style` lists every Japanese face in the
existing order of preference, and `type3_font` uses the first one that has
a glyph for every character. If none has them all, the preferred face still
names the missing character, as before.
* M7: select real Japanese fallback faces by family and weight
Refs #184. Keep Type 3 font-name reporting separate in #387; missing weights and the small web font input remain explicit limitations.
Assisted-by: OpenAI GPT-6.1 (gpt-6.1-sol)
* Test the Japanese fallback name for a sans source: the Gothic face since #394 matches the source style

A page's /Contents array is one content stream in pieces, and a writer
may split it between any two tokens (ISO 32000-2 §7.8.2): a TJ array
can end one piece with its operator starting the next, and a
marked-content dictionary can close at the start of the next piece.
Replacing a line or rewriting a paragraph re-serialized the parsed
operators of the line's piece, and the parser keeps neither operands
left at the end of a piece nor a dictionary's closing >> at its start.
The edit dropped them: the text after the edited line vanished, and the
page was left with an operator without operands (TJ, BDC), which other
readers reject.
The piece is now rewritten by splicing: only the replaced, inserted and
removed operators change, and every other byte is copied as it was.

A page's /Contents array is one content stream in pieces (ISO 32000-2
§7.8.2), so a cm, a q that is still open, the font and the colour set in
one piece still apply in the next. Edit text read every piece with a
fresh state. AutoCAD scales the whole page in its first stream
(0.12 0 0 0.12 0 0 cm) and draws in the following ones, so the text
boxes of its plans landed far off the page and no label could be edited.

The app, crates, binaries, bundle id, packaging, icons, screenshots and docs are now
PdfCraft / pdfcraft (repo storytold/pdfcraft). On first launch the desktop app moves the
PrintCraft settings and crash-recovery folders to the new name, and both apps read settings
saved under the old storage key, so upgrades keep recent files, preferences and unsaved work.
The signing test fixtures keep their PrintCraft subject names (they are binary).

Shippori Mincho (and its OFL file) leaves assets/fonts/: the Japanese fonts now
live in storytold/craft-fonts. printcraft-fonts gets craft-fonts' build.rs recipe:
with CRAFT_FONTS_DIR=<checkout> it embeds the manifest's fonts as CRAFT_FONTS
(wasm32: only BIZ UDPGothic Regular); without it CRAFT_FONTS is empty and the
app builds, tests and runs as before, minus the Japanese face.
- SHIPPORI_MINCHO is now Option<&[u8]> from CRAFT_FONTS; japanese_glyph
(was shippori_glyph) uses document_japanese_font() (Shippori Mincho, then
BIZ UDMincho, then any Jpan face) and returns GlyphError::NoFont without one.
- Editing PDF text into Japanese without craft-fonts is a clear EditError that
leaves the page untouched.
- UI: every Jpan craft font (BIZ UDPGothic first) is the last fallback of
every egui family, sharing the same static bytes.
- Tests: Japanese glyph/edit tests skip without craft-fonts; new UI tests for
no-tofu Japanese with craft-fonts and working fonts without it.
- CI: the Linux test job checks out craft-fonts at a pinned SHA and runs the
tests with CRAFT_FONTS_DIR. Releases build every platform with it
(CRAFT_FONTS_REQUIRED=1) and ship each font's OFL as OFL-<family>.txt.
- ATTRIBUTION.toml gains [[build_input]] (checked by xtask assets); NOTICE,
AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, README and docs say fonts live in craft-fonts.
