xl/sharedStrings.xml can carry phonetic runs (<rPh sb="0" eb="2"><t>ふりがな</t></rPh>)
and a <phoneticPr> beside a string item. GridCraft read only the text and wrote every
string back as <si><t>…</t></si>, so a plain open + save deleted a Japanese workbook's
furigana.
Both are now read — offsets validated against the base text, runs with bad or missing
offsets, sb >= eb or no reading dropped with a warning, and never used to index — and
kept on the workbook as Workbook::phonetics, one entry per string text. The writer
emits them next to the <si> of the same text. The saved table holds each text once, so
two identical texts cannot keep two different readings: the reader keeps the first and
warns. Strings without phonetic data are written byte for byte as before.
Behaviour reference: ISO/IEC 29500-1 §18.4.6 rPh and §18.4.7 phoneticPr (Microsoft
Learn PhoneticRun/PhoneticProperties). Tests: crates/xlsx/src/tests/phonetic_tests.rs
(round trip, plain string, hostile offsets, shared text, unused data, comments and
inline strings). Docs: file-format-parity.md, localization-parity.md.
It returned an empty string for every workbook, saved or not, so the classic
sheet-name formula `MID(CELL("filename",A1),FIND("]",…)+1,31)` gave #VALUE!:
with no `]` in the string there is nothing for FIND to find. Excel returns
`<folder>\[<file>]<sheet>`, and empty only before the first save.
The model had no file to report. `source_dir` could not serve: it names the
folder relative links to other workbooks are relative to, and must keep naming
it after a Save As into another folder, because the links held in memory are
still written for the old one — only the saved copy is rebased. `source_path`
is therefore its own field, with that distinction written down.
It is set when a workbook is opened, from the path made absolute so the folder
is the one the user sees, and when a full-fidelity save makes a file the
document's own — before the `saved` snapshot, or the workbook would read as
dirty the moment it was saved, and only when it changes, so an ordinary Save
does not clone the workbook for nothing. A workbook that arrived as bytes knows
its name but never a folder and reports `[name]Sheet`, which still splits on the
`]`; an import reports the file it came from, as Excel does. The sheet is the one
the reference is on, not the active one.
CELL is volatile and already in the volatile sets, so a cell holding it answers
from the next recalculation; after a Save As that means F9 rather than the save
itself, which the engine test asserts rather than papers over. Making a save
recalculate is a larger decision than this issue.
`check` still skips CELL("filename") as volatile, as docs/cli.md says: the
cached value in a file is the folder of the machine that saved it.
Every edit copies the workbook for its undo step (copy-on-write: sheets
and 64-row bands of cells are shared). A floating picture's bytes
(Image.data) and the VBA project (Workbook.vba_project) were plain
Vec<u8>, so each edit on a sheet with a picture, and every edit in a
workbook with macros, kept another full copy of them, up to the 100
steps of the history. They are Arc<Vec<u8>> now, as cell pictures
already are, with base64 helpers for serde (b64::shared, b64::opt). JSON
and XLSX are unchanged.
Measured on macOS 27 (Apple M3 Max), gridcraft-cli, kernel peak
footprint: a 19 MB picture and 50 cell edits on its sheet, 992 -> 22 MB;
10 edits, 215 -> 21 MB.

A formula read with `cm` (Excel's XLDAPR dynamic-array record in
xl/metadata.xml) now carries `Formula::dynamic`, and the writer keeps the
`cm` and the metadata part for it even when the formula returns one value
and the export shape analysis would not need array evaluation. Before, such
formulas were saved as legacy formulas, so Excel recalculated some of them
with implicit intersection (SUMPRODUCT(IFERROR(range/range,0)) changed
value), and workbooks whose every dynamic formula was scalar lost
xl/metadata.xml altogether.
The mark survives moves, row and column insertion or deletion, sheet and
name renames and LAMBDA call-case fixes; retyping a formula drops it and
the writer decides from the formula's shape, as before. It is serialized
only when set, so saved documents without it are unchanged.

Excel stores the path of a linked workbook relative to the file that uses it, and rewrites it when the file is saved into another folder. The path was kept as text, so after Save As it named a file next to the new copy: a missing link, or another workbook with the same name. Relative externalLinkPath targets are now resolved against the folder the workbook was read from and written relative to the folder it is saved into (absolute when there is no relative path, on another drive).
A `;`-separated CSV (the usual CSV where `,` is the decimal separator) was
rewritten with `,` on save: read_csv sniffed the delimiter but the result was
dropped, and save_bytes passed a hard-coded b','. file.save, Save As .csv,
file.exportCsv, file.saveBytes and gridcraft-cli convert all went through it.
The workbook now remembers the separator it was read with
(Workbook::csv_delimiter, set by read_csv) and a CSV save writes it back.
Workbooks not read from CSV, and .tsv/.txt sources saved as .csv, keep `,`.
Regression tests: `;`, `,` and tab .csv round trips byte for byte, new and
.xlsx-origin workbooks save with `,`, and open-by-path + edit + file.save on a
`;` file keeps `;` (also through exportCsv and saveBytes).

The ribbon button toggled structure protection silently. It now opens a
Protect Structure and Windows dialog with an optional password; when a
password was set, unprotecting asks for it and really verifies it
(SHA-512, spin count 100000, salted). The password hash is read from and
written to XLSX workbookProtection (workbookAlgorithmName/HashValue/
SaltValue/SpinCount or the legacy workbookPassword); an unreadable one
stays locked. File › Info uses the same flow.

Pass-through of package content GridCraft does not model: on read the raw
parts are kept with their content types and relationship graph per owner
(package root, workbook, sheet); on write they get fresh part names where
needed and new relationship ids, and the r:ids in kept XML are rewritten.
Kept: custom document properties, ribbon customisation, add-in task panes,
custom XML, links to external workbooks with <externalReferences> (never
followed), connections, sheet query tables, printer settings with the
<pageSetup r:id> (#324), form and ActiveX controls, OLE objects and sheet
backgrounds with their VML shapes (merged with GridCraft's note shapes).
Content whose graph reaches parts GridCraft rewrites is dropped with a
warning; sheet content goes with its sheet and is not copied by Copy Sheet.

Implements the two slicer commands from the parity catalog as first-class
floating objects that filter a table column.
- model: Slicer struct on Sheet (#[serde(default)]), included in
Workbook::next_object_id; slicer anchors use AnchorMode::MoveOnly.
- engine: cmd/slicer.rs with insert.slicer, table.insertSlicer, slicer.toggle
(single + multi), slicer.selectAll, slicer.clear, slicer.delete. Selection is
written as a FilterCriterion::Values into the sheet AutoFilter and applied via
the existing apply_filter. object.move / object.delete handle "slicer".
- ui-egui: slicers rendered, hit-tested, selected and dragged like charts; value
tiles toggle on click (Ctrl/Cmd = multi), funnel button clears. Ribbon buttons
under Insert > Filters and Table Design > Tools.
- tests: slicer_filters_table; the every_command_survives_empty_params fuzz
covers the new commands.
Native-only for now; .xlsx slicer-cache round-trip is a follow-up.

The parser upper-cases function names, so =Double(4) showed as
=DOUBLE(4). Calls of LAMBDA names are now spelled like the name when
a formula is entered and when a file is read.
Opening an .xlsm and saving it silently stripped xl/vbaProject.bin, turning a
macro-enabled workbook into a macro-free one — data loss for anyone whose work
depends on macros. GridCraft still does not run VBA, but it now carries the
project through unchanged.
- model: `Workbook.vba_project: Option<Vec<u8>>` (base64 in JSON via a new
`b64::opt` helper). `None` = no macros.
- xlsx read: capture the `vbaProject` relationship's bytes instead of warning
and dropping them; warn that macros are kept but not executed.
- xlsx write: when present, emit `xl/vbaProject.bin` byte-identical, add the
`.../relationships/vbaProject` relationship, switch the main part to the
macro-enabled content type (`...sheet.macroEnabled.main+xml`) and add the
`application/vnd.ms-office.vbaProject` override.
- engine: `view.macros` lists the preserved project alongside GridCraft's own
scripts (`{"kind":"vba","executed":false}`), so callers can see it is there.
- ROADMAP: scope now "preserve, don't execute" (was "out of scope").
Tests: round-trip byte-identical blob + correct content types/relationship;
capture from a foreign-produced .xlsm; a macro-free workbook stays clean.
