EffectCraft is a free, open-source app for animated titles, motion graphics and compositing. It is an alternative to Adobe After Effects.
You build a composition from layers (solids, shapes, text, footage, other compositions), animate their properties with keyframes, add effects and render the result. The panels and shortcuts follow After Effects: Project, Composition, Timeline, Effect Controls, Effects & Presets and the Render Queue. It runs on macOS, Windows and Linux, and in the browser.
EffectCraft is young and in alpha. It cannot open After Effects projects (.aep), and some things still behave differently from After Effects. See Can EffectCraft open After Effects projects?.
