Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 12083230a8 Fonts: use craft-fonts as an optional build input 
With CRAFT_FONTS_DIR=<craft-fonts checkout>, crates/text/build.rs embeds the
fonts in its manifest as effectcraft_text::fonts::CRAFT_FONTS (wasm32: only
BIZ UDPGothic Regular). Unset, CRAFT_FONTS is empty and nothing changes.

- Text engine: the Jpan faces are registered after the bundled ones and are
  the Japanese fallback before any system font (Mincho for serif text, BIZ
  UDPGothic otherwise; Han only when the locale puts Japanese first).
- UI: the Jpan faces are appended to every egui family, BIZ UDPGothic first.
- Tests: Japanese renders with real glyphs (text layout and every UI family)
  when built with craft-fonts, skipped otherwise; the app works without it.
- CI (FreeBSD) and release.yml check out craft-fonts at a pinned commit;
  releases set CRAFT_FONTS_REQUIRED=1 and packages carry the OFL licences.
- AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, CONTRIBUTING.md, README, docs, ATTRIBUTION.md and
  NOTICE: fonts live in craft-fonts; how to build with it.

Code-drawn assets (original work, MIT OR Apache-2.0)

  • UI icons drawn in code: crates/ui-egui/src/icons.rs.
  • Procedural demo content (solids, shapes, gradients, text animations): crates/engine/src/demo.rs.
  • Built-in project templates (Lower Third, Title Card, Logo Reveal, Kinetic Type, Social Square, Vertical Story, Slideshow, 3D Text Orbit) built from engine commands, and their thumbnails rendered by our own renderer: crates/engine/src/templates.rs.

Fonts from craft-fonts (optional build input, not files in this repo)

Builds made with CRAFT_FONTS_DIR (all official releases; see AGENTS.md) embed the Japanese fonts of storytold/craft-fonts: BIZ UDPGothic (Regular, Bold), Shippori Mincho and BIZ UDMincho (Regular) on native platforms, BIZ UDPGothic Regular only on the web. They are not in this repository. Each is under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 (OFL-1.1); authors, sources and pinned upstream commits are in craft-fonts' ATTRIBUTION.md, and release packages carry their licences as OFL-<family>.txt.

Trained models (optional downloads, not bundled)

The repository and the installers contain no model weights. These models are downloaded only when a user asks (Settings ▸ Roto Brush, Settings ▸ Face Tracking, or the roto.model.* / face.model.* commands), unmodified from their authors' official location, checked against a pinned SHA-256 and stored in the user's models folder with a <file>.NOTICE.txt naming their authors, licence and source. EffectCraft runs them with its own Rust implementation and is not affiliated with or endorsed by their authors.

Formats and parameters from other open-source projects

Written in Rust for EffectCraft; no code is copied. They follow published specifications and configuration from these Apache-2.0 projects:

  • crates/segment/src/tflite.rs reads TensorFlow Lite files using the field layout of TensorFlow Lite's schema.fbs (The TensorFlow Authors, https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow, Apache-2.0).
  • crates/segment/src/mediapipe.rs follows MediaPipe's published face landmarker graph: the SSD anchor layout, detection decoding, crop sizes and the face-mesh point indices it uses (Google LLC, https://github.com/google-ai-edge/mediapipe, Apache-2.0).
  • crates/segment/src/mobilesam.rs follows the MobileSAM, TinyViT and Segment Anything architectures and their Apache-2.0 reference code.

First-party brand marks

The ArtCraft name, wordmark and logos are trademarks of the ArtCraft Team. They are not open source and are not covered by the project licence; they may be used only unmodified and only as part of this repository and EffectCraft, under docs/brand/LICENSE-brand.txt. Forks and modified versions must remove them (AGENTS.md §1.8).
