The playback prefetch only looked ahead*3 frames (96 with 16 workers) for uncached frames.
After a loop or a restart from the start those were all cached, so the workers stood idle until
the playhead came within that window of the end of the cached run, then the preview stalled.
A playing preview now looks as far ahead as the RAM preview holds (and the range spans) for
the next uncached frames, still queuing at most ahead at a time; eviction already spares the
frames the playhead reaches first (#595).

Start, End and Offset are read as painted in the Timeline: with % under
Units = Percentage, without it under Units = Index. Fails on the old
suffix rule ("0.0%").
layer.setSwitch with no value toggles relative to the first selected layer in
composition order, so with a mixed selection (A checked, C unchecked) clicking
C's box could leave C unchanged. The checkbox now sends the value it toggles
to, as the switches do.
The label swatch's menu, the Blending Mode menu and Preserve Transparency
passed the clicked layer alone, so a colour or a mode had to be set one layer
at a time. They now act on the whole selection, with the Modes column edits
going only to the selected layers that have video, as its cells do.
The preserve-transparency checkbox also gets an automation id, like the cells
around it.
A switch click on one of several selected layers passed that layer alone to
`layer.setSwitch`, so Lock, 3D, Video (and the rest of the A/V Features and
Switches columns) had to be set one layer at a time.
The click now gives the switch to the whole selection, with the layers it
doesn't apply to left out (3D on a camera, Effect on a layer without effects,
Audio on a layer without audio, ...). The targets are picked when the press
happens, so drawing a row costs nothing more than before. A row that isn't
selected still changes that layer alone, pressing and dragging over rows is
unchanged, and Alt-clicking an A/V feature sets the selected layers apart.
The picture comes from an item's proxy while Use Proxy is on, but the
Project panel, the Viewer, project.summary and footage.info asked only
about the item's own file: a proxy that couldn't be decoded (an AVI with
an unsupported codec, say) left the layer empty with no reason given.
They now ask FootageSource::item_problem, which gives the proxy's reason,
said to be the proxy's, for footage and compositions alike.
Resting the pointer in an 18 pt band at a menu's bottom edge crawls the list after a short delay and speeds up the longer it stays there, so long menus stay reachable without letting go of the press-and-hold gesture. Context menus do not crawl.
A title opens on the press and the menus follow the cursor while the button is held: hovering a category opens its submenu and releasing over an entry picks it. An outside press or a focus loss closes the open menu again.
Add Layer Styles submenu to the Timeline and Composition viewer layer context menu, matching After Effects parity and the application Layer ▸ Layer Styles menu.
- Adds Layer Styles submenu between Blending Mode and Effects
- Exposes Layer Style Options..., Convert to Editable Styles, Show All, Remove All, and the 9 individual styles
- Translates Layer Styles across all 7 UI catalogs
- Adds regression test verifying submenu presence, position, and action invocation
Review on #1627: the X arrow tip can sit on a bounding-box handle (a 120 px
wide layer at 100%). The arrow is painted on top, but the press and hover
tests checked the handles first, so dragging it scaled the layer. Check the
arrows first in both, and cover the overlap with a pointer-input test.
