FontFace::v_advance, v_origin and em_box read vmtx/vhea, VORG (else the glyph top plus its top side bearing) and the ideographic em box (BASE ideo/idtp, else OS/2 typo metrics, else ascender/descender, centred on one em); fonts without them fall back to the em box. shape_vertical shapes top to bottom with those metrics (vert, and vkrn/vpal when asked).
