A Shift-press at the caret inside the edited text starts a text drag
without changing the selection; releasing it no longer repaints the
existing range.

A double or triple click that moves the selection to another shape or
cell at the same offsets now counts as a change and paints.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Paragraph properties now go only onto paragraphs the selection covers
whole, so partly covered end paragraphs and the paragraph after a
triple-click keep their bullets. Double and triple clicks apply the
painter only when they changed the text selection.

The resize handles sit in the box's unflipped frame, so in a flipped box
(also one that a drag past the opposite edge just flipped) the dragged
handle is on the other side. Snapping looked at, and moved, the fixed
edge instead.
Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>
snap_resize ran snap_rect on the whole box, which looks at all three
edges on each axis and takes the nearest line. A fixed edge already on a
line (distance 0) always won, so the dragged edge never snapped; a fixed
edge near a line moved the dragged edge by its own distance. Resizing now
looks only at the dragged edges (snap_edges), also for the grid fallback.

The painter only applied when a shape was clicked. It now also applies
when a text range is selected by drag, double-click or triple-click.
Paragraph formatting (bullets, alignment) is copied only onto
paragraphs the selection covers whole.

Review follow-up. The in-front check now also looks among the members of the group that holds
the edited text, and the edited box's frame (which drags it) yields to a shape in front of the
text at that spot; the box's own handles stay on top, as in PowerPoint.

shape.editPoints was a noundo command, so the conversion from a preset to custom geometry was
never recorded and Ctrl+Z took back the step before it. It is undoable now (only an actual change
records a step), and Edit Points ends when Undo turns the shape back into a preset.

While a placeholder's text was being edited, place_caret took every click inside the text box
before the hit test, so a shape in front of it couldn't be selected. It now leaves the click to
the hit test when a shape above the one holding the text is under the pointer; a click on the
text where nothing is in front still moves the caret.

Conflicts resolved onto main's newer shape, and the PR's policy applied to
every alloc_id/add_media/new_slide call site main has grown since: commands
answer bad(cmd, NO_ID_SPACE) (slide.reuse, insert.zoom, SmartArt, photo
album, review.accept, handout/notes masters, master placeholders,
background/artistic/compress pictures, transition sound, ink to shape,
paste special, file.new templates); reid/bring_media/renumber/regenerate
and compare::adopt/accept are fallible; outline import keeps what fit.
Tests use expect() on the now-Option results.

- review.thesaurus's params doc parses under describe's grammar; describe's edit.copy test
expects the landing branch's {text, html?} answer.
- The Language dialog test picks the landing branch's "Français (France)" entry; the Format
Background test allows the pane's title to appear twice.
- Progress docs rebuilt from the landing branch's versions with land-r6's rows applied on top,
so the union merge no longer drops the pen-pressure, ui.pointer and ui.key rows.

Fix-ups in the merge (review): uniform-width and highlighter strokes are drawn as one path (on
the slide and in the live preview) so see-through ink doesn't darken where segments overlap;
segment pairs are destructured instead of indexed; tests that build pointer events set the new
pressure field.

- #519's handle test iterated the old `ALL` preset list; main has `CATALOG` now.
- The hover hit-test match lists every Hit variant; add #519's Hit::Warp.
- Drop the duplicate "tabs" dialog title that #569 and #637 both added.

macOS delivers a trackpad rotation as egui's Rotate event. While the
pointer is over the canvas, that twist turns the selected shapes, and
the whole gesture is one undo step. Pinch-zoom and scrolling are unchanged.

A pen reading of 1 is the full pen width. A lighter touch draws a thinner
stroke, and a zero reading stays visible at 8% of the pen. A mouse, a
missing or non-finite reading, and a stroke whose samples are all the old
placeholder 0.5 still draw at the pen width. PPTX keeps one width per
stroke: the mean of the samples for a pressured stroke, the pen width for
a legacy one. Tilt is not read.

An owned corpus opens, saves and reopens SmartArt and OLE kept as XML, audio and video bookmarks and trims, a section with a hidden slide, slide-number and date fields, ink, .glb models and animation repeat, bounce end and triggers. Relationship-bearing SmartArt and OLE, playback options and rewind stay with their open PRs.
View > Guides used to paint two fixed centre lines. Guides now belong
to the presentation (DrawGuide, read from and written to p:guideLst in
viewProps.xml, in eighths of a point), so they survive a save and
reopen in PowerPoint.
- Turning Guides on gives a deck without guides PowerPoint's two
centre guides.
- A guide can be dragged anywhere away from shapes. It moves in whole
points, unless Alt is held or snapping is off, and shows its
distance from the centre while it moves.
- A guide dropped off the slide is deleted.
- The slide context menu's Grid and Guides submenu has Add Vertical
Guide and Add Horizontal Guide.
- While guides are shown, moving and resizing shapes snaps to them.
New commands guide.add, guide.move and guide.delete are undoable;
guide.list is a query.

Insert > Table > Draw Table turns on a table pencil. Dragging a box on an
empty part of the slide makes a one-cell table. Drawing a line inside a
table splits the cells it crosses, across or down, and adds a row or
column only where needed, so the cells it doesn't cross stay whole.
Table Design > Draw Borders has the pencil and a Table Eraser. A click
on a border merges the two cells on either side when together they
form a rectangle, and their text is kept.
The new table.drawLine and table.eraseLine commands are each one undo
step. The grid work is pure (engine/src/drawtable.rs). It rebuilds the
table from its anchor cells, so existing merges survive, and it caps
the grid at 200 rows and columns. Ribbon big buttons now carry an
accessibility label.

A selected text warp shows one yellow handle per adjust.
Dragging it sets that guide value in one undo step.

shape.pointType makes a vertex smooth (handles in line and equal),
straight (in line) or corner (independent), turning its segments into
curves so it has handles. shape.moveHandle drags a control handle; the
other one follows as the point's type says (given, or read from the
handles). shape.points also reports each vertex's type.
Canvas: clicking a vertex shows its handles, which drag (one undo step
per drag) and follow the type chosen for it. Right-click a vertex for
Smooth / Straight / Corner Point and Delete Point, or anywhere for Exit
Edit Points; a shape's context menu gets Edit Points. The selection box
is hidden while points are edited.

New cmd::points with shape.editPoints (enter/leave; a preset becomes a
freeform in shape-local points), shape.points (vertices in slide points),
shape.movePoint, shape.addPoint (splits a line, quadratic or cubic
segment) and shape.deletePoint. After each change the box is fitted
around the outline and kept in place on the slide, rotation and flips
included. Closing edges are made explicit so they take points too.
On the canvas the edited shape shows its vertices as handles: drag one
(one undo step per drag), Cmd/Ctrl-click a vertex to delete it or the
outline to add one; Escape, Enter or a click elsewhere leaves Edit
Points. Shape Format ▸ Edit Shape gets an Edit Points item.
Not yet: smooth/straight/corner point types and Bézier control handles.

alloc_id bumped next_id with saturating_add: a presentation whose
next_id reached u32::MAX (a hostile file can arrive that way;
fix_next_id imports it) handed out that same id to every new slide,
shape, layout and media - duplicate ids, ambiguous references, silent
corruption on every later insert.
alloc_id now returns Option<u32> via checked_add, and every caller
refuses: the engine's insert/duplicate/media/layout commands answer
with a clear error naming the command, paste and duplicate re-id
helpers propagate it, media addition is fallible, and a fresh slide is
Option. The pptx export's synthesized blank layout is guarded the same
way. Loading keeps such a deck viewable: repair re-ids duplicate
slides while it can, and a duplicate it cannot re-id stays as it is -
growth is refused, and only that duplicate keeps its ambiguous id.
Renumbering the loaded graph was rejected: it needs the
cross-document reference remapping that issue #406 tracks.
Tests: model exhaustion (alloc_id None, fresh media refused, a new
slide refused), engine (slide.new, shape.insert, slide.duplicate and
edit.duplicate all refuse; the document holds no duplicate ids),
format repair (an unre-id-able duplicate stays visible).
Hovering a table border shows a resize cursor (new hit kinds
TableColumn and TableRow) and dragging it resizes, one undo step per
drag, as in PowerPoint:
- an inner column border moves between its two columns and the table
keeps its width;
- the right edge widens or narrows the last column and the table;
- a row's bottom border (the last one is the table's bottom edge) sets
that row's height, which stays a minimum: rows still grow to fit
their text.
Columns stop at 12 pt. Borders hidden inside merged cells aren't hit;
the left and top edges still move the table. A border drag while a
cell is edited keeps editing it. The drag goes through
table.columnWidth, which takes a new keepTotal option (the next column
absorbs the change), and table.rowHeight. Hit testing is done in the
table's own frame, so rotated tables resize along their axes.
- A double-click in a cell puts the caret where clicked and selects the
word there, as in shapes (it used to put the caret at the end).
- While a cell is edited, a click in the same table moves the caret to
the clicked cell and position; a drag selects text within the cell
and Shift+click extends only within it.
- A click in an already selected table enters the clicked cell at the
click; dragging the table still moves it.
- The release that follows a double-click no longer re-enters the text
at the click, which collapsed the word just selected (shapes too).
Cells are found from the drawn cell rects, so merged cells and rows
that grew to fit their text are hit where they are drawn.
Editing a table cell outlined the cell but drew no caret or selection,
and Up/Down/Home/End fell back to paragraph moves, because the text
layout used for drawing, hit testing and caret movement only existed
for shapes.
text::text_frame now lays out the edited text as it is drawn and gives
the transform to the slide, for shapes and cells alike: a cell's text is
laid out in its rect (merges honoured) with the cell's margins, anchor
and the table style's look, through the renderer's own cell_body and
cell_rects. layout_for and tools::text_pos use it, and the canvas draws
the caret and selection from it. The cell outline follows merged cells.
A right click on an unselected shape opened the slide's context menu
(Layout, Reset Slide...) because only the primary button reached the
pointer tool; the shape had to be left-clicked first. The right-button
press now goes through Session::pointer as PointerKind::ContextClick
(`contextclick` on the control channel and MCP) and selects like
PowerPoint before the menu opens: an unselected shape is selected alone
(a text box or placeholder is not put into text editing, nothing is
dragged), a selected shape keeps the selection, multiple selection
included, and empty slide clears it. In the box whose text is being
edited, the caret and text selection stay, and the context menu offers
text items (Paragraph, Bullets, Numbering, Link) next to Cut, Copy and
Paste, which act on the selected text.
While a text box or placeholder is being edited, every press inside its
box placed the caret, so the box could not be moved without leaving
editing first. Like PowerPoint, a band on either side of the box edge
(the hit tolerance wide, in the shape's rotated frame) is now its frame:
hit_test reports Hit::Frame there, the canvas shows the move cursor, and
a press leaves text editing, selects the box and drags it as one undo
step. A click without a drag just selects the whole box. Inside the box
the caret and text selection work as before; resize and adjust handles
still win. The text-click zone now follows the rotated box instead of
its axis-aligned bounds.
* #133: Selection pane engine: restack inside groups, Show/Hide All, Lock like PowerPoint
- arrange.bringForward/sendBackward/bringToFront/sendToBack and arrange.reorder work on a
group's children, which stay in their group (as PowerPoint's pane arrows and drag do);
steps that change nothing leave no undo step.
- selection.select (pane click: Ctrl toggles, children and top-level objects don't mix,
picking a hidden object shows it), selection.showAll (everything, children too) and
selection.hideAll (top level).
- shape.lock cascades through groups; locked objects can be selected, formatted and typed
in, but not moved, sized, rotated, flipped, reshaped or cropped (commands and canvas).
- PPTX: Lock reads and writes PowerPoint's full locking attribute set per element kind
(observed by saving locked objects from PowerPoint); partial locks aren't Lock.

* Front-most first with groups folding; drag a row to restack among its siblings (accent
insertion line); Bring Forward / Send Backward arrows; Show All / Hide All; per-row eye and

arrows, Home, End and Esc in the list; right-click menu. Lock/Unlock on the canvas menu,
greyed handles on locked objects. egui_kittest tests drive the pane.

* Text: input method composition as commands, one undo step per composition (#101)
text.compose shows an input method's preedit in place at the insertion point and replaces it on
each update; an empty preedit cancels and restores the text and selection. text.commit replaces
the composition with the result as one undo step. Any other edit, key or click settles an open
composition first. The composition is underlined under the baseline (thicker under the part being
converted), and the caret line is measured for empty placeholders too.

* UI: Korean, Japanese and Chinese input and interface text (#101)
The slide turns the input method on while it takes typing, with the candidate window at the
caret, and forwards egui Ime events to text.compose / text.commit, so a Korean keyboard composes
syllables instead of separate jamo. Interface text in scripts the interface fonts lack (Hangul,
Simplified Chinese, Thai...) borrows faces from the font database (installed fonts such as Malgun
Gothic; nothing bundled): file names, titles, notes, outline, sections, comments and typed text.
Ported and widened from WordCraft's #565/#840 fallback. The notes pane keeps text typed before
focus leaves in the same frame (Escape, another slide). Control channel: ui.ime.
