Name and Title Organization Chart with a title box per node (DiagramNode.title, smartArt.setNodes title; written as the title box's presentation point text and read back). Half Circle Org Chart draws two half rings per node. New layouts: Vertical Box List, Trapezoid List, Table List, Accent Process, Continuous Block Process, Basic Bending Process, Linear Venn, Stacked Venn, Nested Target. smartArt.fromText (Convert to SmartArt), smartArt.toText and smartArt.toShapes, with a Convert menu in SmartArt Design.

Nikita RakitinandCursor b4c03f0a75 SmartArt: organisation charts with assistants, segmented and multidirectional cycles, cycle matrix, segmented pyramid, pie
Organization Chart and Half Circle Organization Chart with elbow connectors; assistant nodes (Add Assistant, written as asst points and read back) sit beside their parent on a row of their own. Segmented Cycle, Multidirectional Cycle, Cycle Matrix, Segmented Pyramid and Basic Pie. Venn labels move further out so the third circle's no longer runs into the overlap.

Nikita RakitinandCursor 6f19e0bd07 SmartArt: shrink text to fit, picture layouts, 3-D styles and more colours
Each shape's text shrinks so its longest word fits on a line (the pyramid tip no longer breaks words). Three picture layouts (Vertical Picture List, Picture Caption List, Picture Accent Process) with a picture placeholder per node and smartArt.picture to fill it. Five 3-D SmartArt Styles (Polished, Inset, Cartoon, Powder, Brick Scene) drawn with lit bevels, and Colorful Range and Gradient Range colours; all written to and read from the .pptx quickStyle and colors parts.

Nikita RakitinandCursor 1866de9895 SmartArt: 15 layouts, SmartArt Styles and Change Colors
Layouts now include Vertical and Horizontal Bullet List, Basic Block List,
Basic/Chevron/Vertical/Step Up Process, Basic and Block Cycle, Basic Radial,
Basic and Inverted Pyramid (bands drawn as polygons so the slope and the
text stay right), Basic and Titled Matrix, and Hierarchy. Each layout says
which nodes each shape shows, so typed text maps back for any layout.

SmartArt Styles (flat, subtle, intense, white outline) and Change Colors
(colourful or one accent) are kept on the diagram, offered in the SmartArt
Design tab, and written to .pptx as quick style / colour definition ids
(and read back from them).

Nikita RakitinandCursor b03b19bca7 SmartArt: write the outline to .pptx as a diagram; read it back from the data model
Export: a group with a diagram becomes a graphicFrame naming ppt/diagrams
data, layout, quickStyle and colors parts, plus the group's shapes as the
cached drawing (dsp). The data model is built from the outline (doc, node,
parTrans/sibTrans points and parOf links). A diagram read from a file keeps
its own layout, quick style and colour parts until its layout is switched.

Import: the outline is rebuilt from the data model's parOf tree, so
PowerPoint diagrams get the Text Pane. Their shapes stay the file's drawing
until the first outline edit (typed text isn't mapped back to nodes then).

Nikita RakitinandCursor 6e40335424 SmartArt: Text Pane, add and remove shapes, promote and demote
A SmartArt group now keeps its outline (Shape.diagram: layout + nodes with
levels) and its shapes are regenerated from it inside the group's child
rectangle. New commands: smartArt.nodes, setNodes, addNode (after, before,
above, below), removeNode, promote, demote and layout. Sub-points become
bullets in their parent's shape; the hierarchy layout is a real tree with
connector lines. Text typed into a diagram shape is read back first.

UI: a SmartArt Design contextual tab and a Text Pane (Enter adds a line,
Tab/Shift+Tab demote/promote, Backspace on an empty line removes it).

New owned corpus test on PowerPoint-shaped XML: a custom-theme deck with
shadow, glow, soft-edge and reflection effects and every common text and
shape hyperlink, and a two-master deck with its own themes and layouts.
The one loss it found: a:hlinkMouseOver on text runs was dropped; it is
now read into RunProps::hover and written back.

Nikita RakitinandCursor 69a4424e75 Transitions: built-in sounds, Stop Previous Sound and Loop Until Next
Follow-up to the transition sound picker. The Sound box now lists
[Stop Previous Sound] and six built-in sounds (Chime, Click, Camera,
Whoosh, Drum Roll, Laser) that are synthesised as small WAVs when
chosen, so no sound files ship with the app; the same built-in sound is
embedded once however many slides use it. Loop Until Next Sound repeats
a sound in the show until another slide's sound or Stop Previous Sound.
PPTX reads and writes p:stSnd loop="1" and p:endSnd, keeps the sound's
file name in p:snd/@name, and setting a slide's transition to None no
longer drops its sound.

Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 7cb62d5197 Pptx/Render: picture fills with rotWithShape=0 stay upright
A shape's picture fill marked not to rotate with the shape turned and
flipped with it (rotWithShape was neither kept nor written: always 1).
PowerPoint keeps such a picture upright, stretched (or tiled) over the
box the rotated shape covers on the slide and clipped to the shape. Now
read, written (PictureFill::upright) and drawn so.

Wild synthetic set: picture fills on rotated/flipped shapes 12.89 ->

  (observed thresholds at 30/50/70% on colour swatches).
- a:alphaInv was ignored; an opaque picture with it is invisible in
  PowerPoint. Now read, written and drawn.

Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 0c5ddb5dea Gradients: read, write and draw a:tileRect
Gradient tile rectangles were dropped on import. PowerPoint's "from
corner" radial presets depend on them: fillToRect puts the focus on a
corner and tileRect stretches the gradient's box a whole size past it, so
the circle is centred on that corner and reaches the far one. Without it
(after the two-point radial change) such fills washed out. A linear
gradient now spans its tile rectangle; a radial one ends on the circle
around it, with the focus still placed in the shape's own box (fitted to
PowerPoint's export of the corpus deck tdf114848: mean diff over the
filled box 0.77). Round-trips through pptx.

Wild synthetic set: tile-rect gradients 16.74 -> 2.48.

Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 f5fef50364 Text: rtlCol puts the first column on the right; just/dist anchoring at the bottom; wordArtVertRtl
Observed on PowerPoint's export (w14-xml s12):
- a two-column body with rtlCol="1" starts its first column on the right; DeckCraft read and
  saved the attribute but laid columns out left to right;
- anchor="just" and anchor="dist" place the text at the bottom of the box, like anchor="b";
  DeckCraft drew them at the top;
- wordArtVertRtl stacks characters like wordArtVert but runs its lines from right to left; it was
  read as wordArtVert (and saved back as it). It is now its own TextDir, kept on save.

Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 b8a665f0ca Text: mongolianVert and wordArtVert (stacked) text as PowerPoint draws them
mongolianVert was read as vert (and saved back as vert). PowerPoint turns it like vert but runs
its lines from left to right, the anchor mirrored with them (bottom-anchored text sits on the
right). It is now its own TextDir, kept on save; its lines' places are mirrored across the box.

wordArtVert (Stacked) was turned like vert. PowerPoint stands every character upright, one
under the other (Latin letters about one em apart, spaces their own width), with lines running
left to right. Stacked text now stands each character upright in an em of its own and mirrors
the line order.

Also: a bullet in the second or later column of a multi-column body is drawn on its line's
baseline (it kept the first column's).

Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 d5e30557eb Transitions like PowerPoint: measured frame by frame and retuned (#366)
Every transition and Effect Option was built in PowerPoint (COM), exported as
video and compared frame by frame with DeckCraft at the same progress
(mean abs diff over 150 variants 35.7 -> 15.0, 0-255).

- anim: transition_frame(kind, option, t, aspect) with measured curves
  (smoothstep fades, ease-in-out moves, Cover/Uncover/Pan curves), directions
  and option meanings, soft edges as per-corner opacity, 3-D effects as
  perspective-projected cards, Dynamic Content moving slide contents over
  cross-fading backgrounds (Source::OldBack/NewBack/OldContent/NewContent);
  layer_mesh subdivides perspective quads so textures stay straight.
- New options: Page Curl Single, Glitter Hexagons, Shred In/Out, Zoom and
  Rotate; PowerPoint-style Effect Options labels.
- render: composite_transition (CPU twin of the show), render_slide_part,
  render_transition; deckcraft-cli render-transition FILE --slide N --t T.
- show: per-vertex opacity meshes, slide parts rendered once per transition.
- pptx: PowerPoint's elements and defaults (p:strips diagonal wipes, p14:warp
  and p:newsflash for Zoom, p:zoom for Shape In/Out, glitter pattern, shred
  rectangle/dir, prstTrans invX per preset, pageCurlSingle, defaults for
  randomBar/doors/window/pan/zoom); PowerPoint reopens DeckCraft's files with
  the same effects.
- Tests: measured curves, probes of which slide shows where at t, option
  coverage, per-frame triangle budget, PowerPoint XML and defaults round trip.

lloydandClaude Opus 5.5 0f069ce351 Merge upstream/main into fix/chart-auto-axis
Upstream ce1c7b7 ("Charts: axis number formats, automatic major unit,
hidden axes") replaced the value-axis scaling this branch changed, and
already draws #144's chart as 0-45 in steps of 5. Take its structure and
API as they are (axis_scale with fixed bounds/unit and a room-based
interval count, Chart::axis_scale(secondary, max_intervals), axis_range,
combo charts' secondary axis) and drop this branch's auto_scale.

On top of it, the Office rules upstream lacked:

- Automatic minimum: zero only when every value is >= 0 and the smallest
  is below 5/6 of the largest; otherwise the first major unit at or below
  min - (max - min)/20. All-negative data mirrors it (the axis ends at
  zero only when the largest is above 5/6 of the smallest). Headroom is
  5 % of the data range, as documented. Chart::axis_scale feeds it the
  plotted extremes (stacked sums still count from zero, 100 % series are
  0-1); axis_range and value_range keep returning zero-inclusive ranges.
- A fixed limit beyond the data makes the automatic end give way instead
  of producing an inverted axis.
- The renderer stops values past the axis limits at the plot edge, on
  both value axes.

The model tests from this branch are ported to the new signature with
ten intervals of room.

Магда М.Г. ce1c7b7759 Charts: axis number formats, automatic major unit, hidden axes
Value axes showed raw numbers ("800000") with a fixed ~5-interval scale and
fixed label gutters, deleted axes were still drawn, and data labels ignored
their number format, so Russian business charts read "516600000" where
PowerPoint shows "516 600 000 ₽".

- New deckcraft_model::numfmt: Excel number format codes (sections for
  positive/negative/zero, quoted and escaped literals, _x padding, *x fill,
  [$sym-lcid] currency, [colour]/conditions dropped, 0/#/? placeholders,
  grouping with ',' or the locale's literal space, trailing-comma scaling,
  %, General) with digit grouping and decimal mark from the chart's
  language (c:lang: ru-RU -> "800 000", "12,5%").
- Reading: each value axis' numFmt, c:delete, scaling min/max and
  majorUnit, for the primary and a combo chart's secondary axis; data
  labels' numFmt (series, then group, else the source data's formatCode);
  the chart's c:lang. The primary value axis is the one on the left
  (bottom) and the secondary the one on the right/top or crossing at max,
  whatever the plot groups' order.
- Scale (Chart::axis_scale): fixed bounds and unit where given, else the
  data plus 5% headroom rounded out to the smallest 1-2-5 unit that leaves
  as many intervals as the axis has room for labels, as PowerPoint does
  (0-800 000 by 100 000, 0-7 000 by 1 000 on the sample deck).
- Rendering: labels in the axis format, gutters sized to the longest label,
  deleted axes draw no labels and take no room, data labels in their own
  format.
2026-10-13 04:20:52 -04:00
Магда М.Г. 5c82c08847 Charts: draw combo charts with columns, lines and a secondary axis
A combo chart (columns plus lines, often with the lines on a second value
axis) was read with each series' type but drawn as lines only, on one
scale, so a spend-and-clicks chart showed the clicks as a flat line along
the bottom and no columns.

- Reading: a plot group whose value axis isn't the first group's is on the
  secondary axis (Series::secondary_axis, now set).
- Model: Chart::series_kind, on_secondary and axis_range (per axis; a combo
  stacks only its stacked series).
- Rendering: bar-like series are drawn as bars (clustered or stacked among
  themselves), the others as lines/areas over them, each against its own
  axis; the secondary axis' labels go on the right. Line series use their
  line's colour and width (where PowerPoint keeps them), also in the legend.
  Long category labels wrap onto two lines.

* Text: Ctrl+arrows, Ctrl+Backspace/Delete and the other text keys work like PowerPoint (#268)

Observed black-box in PowerPoint for Windows on synthetic text:
- Word stops (crates/model/src/words.rs): words, punctuation runs, symbol
  runs, tabs, line breaks and each CJK character are tokens; trailing spaces
  join the token before. it's, a-b, 3.14, 1,000 are one word; e.g., a_b and
  x@y.com are not. Grapheme clusters never split.
- Ctrl+Left/Right and Ctrl+Shift+Left/Right move by those stops, across
  paragraphs; with a selection they go on from its start/end. In a
  right-to-left paragraph Left and Right swap.
- Ctrl+Backspace deletes to the previous stop; Ctrl+Delete deletes the rest
  of the word, or spaces plus the next word, then applies PowerPoint's smart
  spacing. With a selection both work from its start.
- Ctrl+Up/Down by paragraph, Ctrl+Home/End to the text's ends.
- End on a wrapped line goes past the trailing space and the caret stays
  drawn at that line's end (TextSel::line_end); End again stays, Home
  returns to the same line.
- Ctrl+]/[ and Ctrl+Shift+>/< change font size (egui's Period/Comma/
  bracket key names now match registry shortcuts).
- Shift+F3 cycles lower -> Title -> UPPER; a caret changes its word.
- Double-click selects the word without trailing spaces; triple-click
  includes the paragraph mark.
- Mac keeps Option for words and Cmd for line/text ends (Session::mac_keys).
